List of Darshan Thakkar's Reviews
The person who schedules surgery is a real special kinda person……NOT! She made me feel like a number all because I asked for my surgery to be sooner than 1:00 that day. The rudeness I Received was just uncalled for. Needless to say I’m going to moffit…which I should’ve done to begin with. Moffit cares about you as a person not a NUMBER
I was very pleased with the care that I received in Dr. Thakkar's office from the first visit. The staff was very cordial and professional. Dr. Thakkar was excellent from the pre-operative visit. He examined me and explained what to expect through the entire process. He did an excellent job, incision healed beautifully with no complications. I would recommend Dr. Thakkar to anyone for medical intervention under his specialty.
I had 2 major Stomach Surgeries (1 an emergery) Dr Thakkar saved my life. He is a very kind, gentle, and very knowledgeable Dr, that cares about his Patients. I came out of Brandon Hospital with a wound Vac because I could not be put back together without one. He was there for me anytime I needed him. I thank God every day for a Dr that brought me through.
Dr Thakkar is a great surgeon. Office employee are great. Yes you have paperwork to fill out but that's normal. We just had a great experience tells you what needs to be done and does it.
Dr. Thakkar is very competent surgeon. He takes the time to explain in detail all your questions. He even took the time to come down to the waiting room after the surgery on a very dear friend of mine and explain to me exactly what was done and what had to be done to take care of her. I don't think I can say enough to compliment the doctor anymore then he is very competent, considerate and caring.
I met Dr Thakkar on a Tuesday morning in March 2021 following a suspect mammogram. We spoke about a biopsy and that another office said a biopsy could be scheduled in two weeks. Dr Thakkar said “no, how about Thursday?” When the biopsy results came back as breast cancer, Dr Thakkar discussed the results and next steps with me and when my husband arrived (from his own appointment), Dr T again reviewed the results and options with us both. I was a sobbing mess, but he was calm and informative. Remember too, that this was in the middle of the Covid outbreak. Next, (between vaccinations), the lumpectomy was scheduled, removing the lump and the Sentinel node. The results were not good. Cancer had spread to the Sentinel node and the lymphatic system. Dr T scheduled the next surgery in conjunction with Dr Socas, a microsurgeon, to decrease the chances of Lymphedema. The cells were removed until cancer-free cells were found. The next surgery in July 2021 was scheduled to insert a port for the Chemotherapy that came next. 13 months later, after a clean PET Scan and mammogram, Dr T removed the port. I explain this because ours wasn’t a “one surgery with follow-up and done” relationship. Dr T was incredible all the way through, making sure I was comfortable and informed. He and his staff were supportive and caring. If I need surgery again, I will go to Dr T although he laughed when I said I hope I don’t see him again!
- Walgreens informed that the prescription written for post-operative pain management is not compliant with federal regulation (no address on prescription); so your pain will likely not be managed at this office or the Brandon Surgery Center at which he holds a financial interest - Surgery coordinator and some additional staff is rude when asked questions - The office have many “working” administration personnel; however, they are the worse in my Tampa experience (5 doctor offices) at effectively managing health information. Unnecessary duplicity is their main issue.
Dr. Thacker went in for a routine galbladder surgery via my navel using the Davincci Robot. Woke up in recovery and was told the machine broke and he did it via 2 different holes. Was told I could go back to work the next day but felt horrible. Called the nurse 3 days later and said I was getting worse and she said I would be ok. 5 days after surgery I couldn’t walk and was in excruciating pain. Spouse took me to ER and was in the hospital for 5 days! Ended up he didn’t use a clamp and nicked my bile duct, so I had stomach bile freely flowing into my abdomen. Had to have a special stint put in place to stop the leak for a month. Ever since thissurgery I’ve had crazy high elevated liver enzyme panel. Negative hepatitis tests, and had an actual liver biopsy performed showing no liver damage. Points to a new issue with my liver from my botched gallbladder removal! 5 years later I still have bad liver enzymes, will probably get cirrosis, and liver failure at this point!
Dr. Darshan B. Thakkar, MD My respects to you. Although I am a new patient, you showed me how important your patients are to you. My operation was excellent. I wish you many successes forever.
My husband had emergency surgery by Dr. Thakker on April 1st 2021. We couldnt be any happier. He is awesome. He dealt with his staff in the Riverview office and they were outstanding. When Alise says she is going to do something, its done. We are very happy!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
