John Cottam's Online Review Report Card

I have never been more impressed by the genuineness of this physician as well as the office staff. He convinced me (a cynic for years) that he would find a way to help me have less pain. A very positive experience.

This place is awful. Front desk girl is rude, the doctor is a weirdo, and they make you wait 45 minutes past your appointment time. Don't waste your time going here.

Dr Cottam is so friendly, knowledgeable and I’m beyond happy he is now my dermatologist, 10+ thank you so much DrCottam!!!

Got another bill after paying my bill off a cpl months ago. Like last 3 bills part of it is always wrong and paid already. Now I get a bill related to my deductible from last January. Just told them pay it off and I'll be getting another dermatologist. Will contact State Insurance Commissioner's office. Cottam always complaining about med prices, employee salaries and Obamacare. Then he passes on these unknown prices to hardworking ppl like me living paycheck to paycheck. He's the most arrogant, obnoxious Dr I've ever had. Finally had enough of his ridiculous billing ripoffs. Surely I'll get another bill in 6 months for some other charge. Keep all my money !

If you think you have cancer…RUN AWAY! If I could give a zero I would. My husband was referred to Dr. Cottam back in July. My husband had a mole on his back that was diagnosed as cancer. My husbands insurance took Dr. Cottam off their list of providers in early August. Doctor Cottam sent a letter to our home stating he need to get his cancer addressed that it was life threatening. Since then we have been trying to get copies of his records. We had my husbands primary doctor and the new dermatologist fax over release forms several times each to get copies of his records. For 5 months doctor Cottam’s office has claimed they have been faxing the records but neither doctor had received them. I called Tampa office on Friday on which they claimed they had no records that they were in Bartow where he had his office visit. I took the day off of work today (Monday) to ensure this got taken care of. I arrived at Dr. Cottam’s office at 10:00am. They were refusing to help me because I was not my husband. I showed them the release for and told them to send the copies to both my husbands primary and new dermatologist. They couldn’t find his records, they said they were in Tampa! (What is going on) after 1.5 hours they finally found his records. I saw Dr. Cottam and I asked to speak to him, I told him who I was and he flipped out on me saying he could not talk to me because of HIPPA. I explained in that I only wanted his records sent. Dr. Cottam started yelling and even cursing at me. I asked him if we needed to get an attorney and he accused me of threatening him. He had a lobby full of patients who heard what he had said to me. I turned to his patients and they were shocked. I told them this is what you are dealing with. One lady was on her 1st visit and I said that she may want to rethink this doctor. At 3pm the fax was received by the new dermatologist. RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN! THIS DOCTOR IS A QUACK!

If you hav cancer please read and RUN! My husband was diagnosed with cancer from a mole on his back. Dr. Cottam sent a letter to my husband stating it was life threatening. Dr. Cottam is no longer in his network. Since August we have been requesting his diagnosis to be sent to another doctor. Since they didn’t send them to the other dermatologist we gave them his primary doctors fax #and crickets. His primary and new doctor send numerous requests for the records and nothing was ever received. I called his Tampa office since he is only in Bartow 1 day a week and they did not have any records of my husband. Now it is December and i took the day off of work. They could not find his records, they stated they were in Tampa. I told them Tampa doesn’t have the records since he was seen in Bartow. I have been in his office since 10:00am now it is 3am and neither doctor received the fax. I saw doctor Cottam and tried to talk to him and he flipped out on me in front of his patience. Even his patience were shocked of his language. Do not go to this doctor! He is a quack and his employees are worse.

I am giving one star because I have to , where do I begin the front desk is unprofessional, I have been there a couple times and there is a new person everytime , he was very rude to the girl that he was training in front of me, it was very awkward for me as a patient to the point that I wanted to defend the poor girl , the office is very unsanitary for a medical office , not to mention they have no gowns and you stand there in your underwear, never have I experienced anything like it , I got the 4 min shower lecture, I had a red spot on my abdomen and without him saying anything he took a scaple and cut a cone shaped hole in my body I have a permanent scar from it , there is a complete other story about allergy testing, I got it and I got all false positives from the test, I went to an actual allergist, they never even called me back after 6 months about the test and charged my insurance $1,200 dollars scam! I could go on forever long,long story short, Stay Away !!!

Everyone at the office is so nice! Really like Dr. Cottam and his whole staff. Would recommend them.

I love Dr Cottom and all his staff. Super efficient and Dr Cotton is a genius at diagnosing and treating everything related to skin issues!!! He has treated me successfully many times!!! He is perfect!
