List of Richard G Picciocca's Reviews
Dr. Picciocca is a doctor's doctor and is quick, decisive and very courteous. I would let him take care of my whole family. He is awesome and one of the finest surgeons in the area.
My mother had her second chemo port put in on September 14, 2016 by surgeon Dr. Richard Picciocca. My mom was due for her next round of chemo on September 16, 2016. The morning of the 16th "chemo day" her oncologist Dr Vita Saranga Perry relayed to the surgeon that my mom had her port accessed for her routine bloodwork the day before (this was a untrue statement which she later apologized for). An observation was made that the port looked infected. A decision was made to call the surgeon Dr. Picciocca who placed the port in. He seemed a bit irritated, as he was called up between surgeries. He glanced said ahhhh it doesn't look infected and directed the infusion nurses to administer chemo through the port even though it was painful, red and irritated. (Dr. Picciocca stated after he placed the port in my mother's chest to make sure they use a 2" needle when administering the chemo and he would notate it because he placed it deep.) This chemo session he authorized the administrators of the chemo to use a 1 1/2" needle as there were no 2" needles available in the hospital. After 3 very painful attempts they accessed the port. Along the way my mom felt burning, told the nurses and they seemed concerned as they tested it and it revealed only saline was coming out and no blood (meaning the needle administrating chemo came out of the vein and she was infiltrated under her skin) My sister was concerned and asked if there would be any side effects, one stated no and we "checked" and sent her on her way with no informaton about what to look out for from their negligence. That evening and to this day my mother has gone through so much mental and physical pain that was caused by the neglect of the St Joseph's Hospital South Infusing Center and Dr's. My mom spent 6 extremely painful days in Tampa General Hospital with a chemo burn and in infected port... YES the port was infected and removed at Tampa General. Later we found out those administrating the chemo stated there was never a infiltration of chemo.? ?? !!! What! !.. my sister asked if there were going to be side effects and she startef NO. My mother has been SEVERALLY effected by their lies and denial, attacking her character, and the excruciating pain from the chemo burn and infected port that it is taking the fight out of her. She cries due to the attack on her characer and she's afraid to have another port put in and have any more chemo treatments! She has permanently been scared both physically and mentally.
Dr. Richard Picciocca. My mom had chemo 09/09/16. The morn of the 16th "chemo day" An observation was made that the port looked infected. A decision was made to call Dr. P who placed the port in.He seemed a bit irritated,as he was called up between surgeries. He glanced said ah it doesn't look infected and directed the infusion nurses to administer chemo through the port. This caused my mom severe chemo burns and pain, surgery and a loss to fight. Just because he agreed to move forward.
Dr. Picciocca and his staff are very kind. They put their patients FIRST! I was in very serious condition and I would not be here if this doctor had not taken such good care of me. The doctor explained everything very well and took his time with myself and my family. HE DOES EXCELLENT WORK! Many sitiautions are serious and uncertian, but I know that Doctor Picciocca will do everything within his power to help people and save lives. I cannot say enough about this doctor and everyone within his practice. Thank you Dr. Richard Piccioca!!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
