I suffered a gun shot injury as a child and it affected my vision and the muscle in my right eye. Today was my strabismus surgery and after looking in the mirror I am so happy I can cry. My eyes are so aligned!! I’m 34 and I feel like I have my confidence back finally!!! This doctor is so amazing and I’m happy to have been her patient!!!

Dr. Chen was very professional, knowledgeable and personable as was the office staff. My son is 15, and Dr.. Chen was very good with him. The staff also respected our time and got us in the exam room five minutes after we arrived.

Love love the staff and Dr. Chen. I will be back for sure.

My kids have been going to Dr. Chen for two years and she is consistently amazing. She speaks directly to the my kids and is sincere and kind and professional. I happily drive from Lakeland to see her because of the level of care we receive.

Dr. Chen was very professional. Great with kids. My daughter loved her. She kept me informed about my daughter during the entire exam. I loved her sense of humor and warm personality with children. I would definitely recommend her to anyone with children who are nervous. As a parent I was nervous, especially after my daughter’s pediatrician told me she has never seen this condition before. Long story short it was a rare care of allergy onset inside her eye. Dr. Chen helped me to feel less anxious, I loved the environment. It’s appropriate for children. Especially the dark T.V room. Small but nice. Dr. Chen is such a great doctor.

Dr Chen is very thorough, very sweet and patient with the little ones. She explains everything well and you can tell she truly cares. We love this office everyone is great and polite!

Dr Chen was recommended to us for our special needs child. We went to her for a very specific concern. We even called to speak with her nurse prior to the visit to confirm that she was familiar with the condition we were concerned about. They ensured us she was. We waited weeks for an appt and walked in with a clinical diagnosis and full report from one of the leading experts in the condition, looking for a medical diagnosis (to start therapy). The level of arrogance we witnessed was so unbelievably astounding. It was very obvious she had no idea about the condition. They ran all the “standard” tests which was fine but unnecessary. Her “test” for the condition was literally the opposite of what you’d do for a child with the condition. She shunned the clinical diagnosis and would cut me off if I attempted to push back. I’m a well educated professional and can tell you that I’ve never been spoken down to the way I was in that office. The fat kicker was that I had to pay $75 in copays on my way out for the complete waste of time. Even worse was that my child lost weeks of therapy waiting for the appt. Someone suggested that we try Dr Hess, so we did. What a world of difference. We were treated with respect, compassion and kindness. Dr Hess respected my child’s special needs and was very slow and gentle during the exam. He knew about the condition, and after spending a few min with our child he said the condition was obvious. With Dr Hess’ help we were able to get our child the services we needed. It’s a much longer drive but we happily drive down to St Pete to see him.

I have bitten my tongue for six years with this lady, in the best interest of my child. Today, I simply wasn’t going to have any more of her arrogance. Dr. Chen believes that she’s on a higher plane than the rest of us mere mortals. That she is infallible, can do no wrong and is a portrait of excellence. I disagree. Were she that perfect, there would have been no need for me to come and try to get resolved the blunder she created in January.Listen, the bottom line is that she has the bedside manner of a porcupine and the arrogance of a royal.
