My experience with DR Matthew Tufts MD. My name is Paulette Pohl and I'm telling you he did my masectomy on August 23rd and follow up appointment 2 days later I was beyond pleased with the results. Then today August 31st he took my drain tube out I'm very happy with him. He is the best surgeon for me or anyone I highly recommend him to anyone very very sweet and takes the time to let u know what is going on. He made me fill like a million bucks and the surgery u can hardly tell I had a masectomy love him and hope everyone else does to he saved my life thank u again Dr. Tufts
So after putting off my 1st colonoscopy I finally gave in and went to Dr Tufts. 5 minutes out of anesthesia he informed me I have colon cancer. After me crying my eyes out he said its ok im going to help you. He did my colon surgery July 11th and after a few days at hospital I went home to heal. I was healing great! This past weekend started with severe pain in left side. I waited a few days then called him late Sunday. Met him in am and he sent me straig ht to er. I had an internal hernia. Which apparently is very rare. He believed me and didn't think i was crazy ! and didn't send me home. Straight to my 2nd major surgery in 20 days. I totally believe he saved my life! His demeanor and bedside manner is the best! His office staff is friendly and very understanding as well. He sits and listens and I don't feel like a #. MY go to DR for the rest of my life! Thank you from me and my family! We are forever grateful ♡
As a new patient, I have to warn you of my experience. I was sent to Dr Tufts by my primary physician for the colonoscopy part of my well visit. The initial appointment was set up to see Dr Tufts before the procedure. I assumed that he wanted to meet me to make sure I was okay for the procedure. However, it turned out to be just to schedule the procedure, which could have been done over the phone. But then I would not have been charged for an office visit. And I never even met with the doctor. I was left with a very bad feeling about this doctor's practice and decided to not have the procedure with him. There is more about what made me feel that the way that they were conducting business was sketchy but I am choosing to only focus on the one point. Paying a copay for scheduling? That's a really shady trick to pull on a new patient. So fair warning, get them to explain why you need to come into the office before you waste your time coming in and waste money getting charged for something that should have been handled over the phone.
Dr. Tufts was so very amazing! I had doubts about having an inguinal hernia repaired. His bedside manner was refreshingly kind and sincere, and I had complete confidence in him and his staff. His nurse Victoria was very knowledgeable and had a no nonsense approach, which I found comforting. I had absolutely zero complications, or issues, and after 12 days, I am feeling great and headed back to work. I would also like to add that I am intolerant of pain meds because of upper respiratory issues. I was able to manage comfortably with Tylenol only. Which tells me one thing: Dr. Tufts is highly skilled, his handiwork is precise, and and I have never been happier with my care. The only drawback is that he is so hard on the eye.🤣
I am a lady in my 70’s. Dr. Tufts performed colon resection surgery and I was fitted with a colostomy bag. Due to my age and health I lived with the colostomy bag for one year. Dr. Tufts was reticent about a colostomy reversal because of my health issues. My husband and I persisted on having the colostomy bag removed. I am doing very well in my recovery thanks to the expertise of Dr. Matthew Tufts. A better surgeon for addressing gastrointestinal issues cannot be found. I cannot recommend him highly enough. Five stars rating at a minimum!
May 2022 I had the gastric sleeve surgery done by Dr Tufts. Dr Tufts has been the best surgeon before surgery and post op care. All of my preop appointments he took his time to thoroughly answer all of my questions and concerns. Now post op he continues to do the same. My progress has been hard work but with the help of modern medicine and Dr Tufts expertise, in just over a year I am down 112lbs and healthier than I’ve ever been. Not to mention I never had any bruising from surgery and my incisions closed within one week. Greatly impressed through this entire process. Also would like to add that the office staff is top notch! Will definitely recommend Dr Tufts to anyone looking for a bariatric surgery
Nice bedside manner. Patient.
Dr. Tufts is hands down one of the best/ if not THE BEST surgeons in Charlotte County! His professionalism and dedication to his patients is beyond what many physicians do today. I have been a patient of Dr. Tufts for almost 2 years and appreciate the care that he and his staff have provided me.
Dr. Tufts is a very caring doctor. Dr. Tufts removed my gallbladder and everything was explained down to the tiniest detail. The surgery was performed at Shorepoint (previously known as Bayfront). A superb anesthesiologist and nursing staff. A shout out to Bettina!
I have had major surgery and 2 other procedures done by Dr Tufts. He is very knowledgeable. Does a good job and explains what he will need to do. I highly recommend him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
