List of Alexis Stephens's Reviews
Let me start by saying, Dr. Stephens is AMAZING. It is extremely difficult finding a Black dermatologist— a true rarity. All of that being said, I am so very disappointed that her practice is now cash only, no insurance accepted. As someone with a chronic condition that affects my face and hair, I’ve been to many dermatologists who misdiagnosed, didn’t understand or just simply did not care to navigate issues for melanated skin. Dr. Stephens understood and addressed my ailments. The first time I saw Dr. Stephens, I had a large amount of hair loss and bad irritation on my face. She did what needed to be done and got my situations rectified. Unfortunately, I absolutely cannot afford to pay out of pocket to be seen by Dr. Stephens anymore. The only way I could afford it was through my insurance. Dr. Stephens, as a phenomenal Black dermatologist, it would be great to see you open your books back up for insurance customers. Again, having a dermatologist of Color is so rare and so needed. I hope you’ll open that avenue up once again.
Best dermatologist in South Florida! Very friendly and caring staff.
Does not know what she is doing. Her office kept trying to push their sponsored products, which by the way have terrible reviews online
I'm so disappointment by Dr. Alexis office staff. The person that answered my call was so rude and uninviting. Thank god she saved me a trip. Based on all the recent comments I'm going to look for another black dermatologist. Its a shame Bc i was willing to travel miles and miles away to get treated by Dr. Alexis since i've been following her for years and enjoy her youtube videos. This shows that Social media is full of lies.
Very disappointed. I initially called expressed my interest and was told it would be $150. Just the consultation was $150. I've had good skin up until approaching 40 and really wanted to have regular facial treatments. After waiting 1 hour and 10 minutes before finally seeing her just to push products and having nothing else done. Not even some sort of skin test or anything After talking with my sisters who are regulars at this they said it should have at least included some kind of treatment. I explained to her I was looking into my own products I would see which one fit but ofpcourse on checking out she still had her assistant bring the products to the front desk. I had a bad experience Yeatrs go with a facial and just left my face alone. Really disappointing knowing how hard I was trying to find an African American Dr.☹️☹️☹️
Sharing my experience with Dr. Stephens so others are aware of what to REALLY expect when seeing her. I went to her for a unknown mark that was on my face. This mark had been there for about a year. Dr. Stephens comes in the room and stays for not even 5 minutes before she disappears and heads to the next patient. Within that 5 minutes of her being in the room she tells me I have a condition called granuloma annulare, I was confused because she didn't ask me any questions, she didn't look at the pictures I brought to show her NOTHING....she simply looked at my face for a few seconds and "diagnosed" me. She then prescribed me two creams and directed me to start taking them ASAP. Fast forward a little...those creams did NOTHING for me besides make my face discolored and worse that what it had originally been. I went back for one follow up with Dr. Stephens and she didn't have much to say besides to keep using the creams as instructed. I decided to cancel all following appointments with Dr. Stephens. In total I spent $335 with her for NOTHING. I finally decided to research Board Certified Dermatologist and found an amazing Dr. As soon as I stepped foot in his office he thoroughly examined my face and other parts of my body making sure the marks weren't anywhere else. He then told me he thinks I have skin lupus and immediately did a biopsy on me. He was shocked that my previous Dr. didn't think to do a biopsy on me or any blood work. Within less than two days my biopsy results came back and My Dr. Called me with the news, he was extremely informative and prescribed me with the correct treatment for my skin. It's only been two weeks and I see a tremendous difference in my skin. My new Dr. also did blood work on me to make sure everything was okay with me internally. Please do your research before choosing a Dr. and if something doesn't feel right the first time it's okay to not go back. Hopefully this review helps others.
Excellent practice Caring highly professional The doctor is very caring and the Nurse Practicioner was superb I wanted to return but unfortunately the Doctor no longer accepted My medicare which I found very disappointing Nonetheless I highly recommend this practice
Never had one issue.
After following Dr. Stephens on social media, I finally decided to make an appointment. I was beyond excited to find a Black Dermatologist. My first appointment there was an 1 1/2 wait, that's after coming and hour earlier as requested by the receptionist. I called back a couple days after my visit to get clarification on my prescription and the receptionist was blatantly rude and dismissive. I emailed the practice about my interaction and inquiring more information about future treatments. I received a follow up call by the office manager, she didn't even to bring up her staff's behavior. I struggle with Alopecia, I asked Dr. Stephens if there were any side effects with the medication, she assured me there wasn't. Fast forward to three months later, I have an insane amount of facial hair from the medication. I called the office again told them about the issue, I didn't get a full response til 4 days later. I was prescribed another type of medication for hair loss and excessive hair growth. I just picked it up read the information and the prescription to remove hair growth on my face states that it can't be used on the face. My new script for Alopecia, has to be washed out every night! Like how??? Black hair can't be washed that excessively. Now mind you I just spent a $100 on these new scripts that I can't even use. Do not waste your time and money at this practice, it sucks that I learned this the hard way.
The worst dermatologist office I’ve ever been to. They are always over booked. you wait forever. Not only that, you spend money without seeing no results.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
