6 week wait and then he cancelled, so an extra 10 day wait. Meanwhile I’m in excruciating pain. Staff couldn’t care less. Finally appointment day. Not your spine, it’s your shoulder and anyway you’re too old for surgery. More MRIs. Shoulder Doc. Nothing wrong with the shoulder, need spine surgery. New practice arranged immediate EMG test and spine Doctor appointment. Surgery completed Aug. 15 now recovering, no thanks to Dr. Akture. Last straw, as I’m in shoulder Doc office Doc. Akture office called to cancel our July 20 appointment moved to Aug. 3. I’m sticking with Florida Orthopedic Associates. 4 extra months of agony thanks to this Neurosurgery Practice. If you’re not important or you don’t have an important PCP you’re never getting help in this 7 Doctor practice. Not one is available to the common person.
Update: Advent commented on this review to look like they were trying to resolve the issue, but really haven't don't anything. Just go to Halifax. The people that work in the UF/Halifax neurosurgeon office actually care about human beings & the head surgeon was honest & walked us through the process and got the ball rolling. We learned a lot about the surgery that the team at Advent failed to inform us about. Not good news but at least it's the truth. Not sure where the disconnect is, but Dr. Akture seemed knowledgeable and great. He said he would do my husband's surgery. He said even if insurance doesn't cover it, he would readmit my husband and do it that way. What I will say is that if you speak on the phone or in person with receptionist Danielle, simply ask for someone else. She gave us the wrong appointment time for the first appointment (not even verifying my husband's info, btw) & when we showed up at the time she told us to be there, said the doctor refused to see us. We spoke with a male manager and set up an appointment for two weeks later. The day of the appointment, they cancel as we were leaving and refused to call back. We had to call three times over a span of a week to get an appointment. Then, we get to the appointment weeks later, at the time she stated, and then said the doctor isn't there and is refusing to see him because we didn't show up 30 minutes early. No one in any of the phone calls instructed us to do that. There was a lady in line before us apparently dealing with the same issue. Danielle said she looked up at the clock when we came in, but she wasn't even in the desk area and took 15 minutes to deal with the lady in front of us. My hunch is that this is an insurance thing, but if that's the case, why not say that to begin with? We could've had this all taken care of elsewhere for over a month now. Everyone says Advent has better service than Halifax but after this experience, I'm telling everyone to steer clear. They're screwing with people's actual lives.

Dr. Akture was extremely thorough and staff extremely professional and polite. I would highly recommend them!
What a fantastic, up-to-date, caring, informative doctor! I had been unable to walk for more than 5 minutes at a time for the last 18 months plus all the typical sciatica symptoms. Saw Dr Murphy (also excellent) who after a thorough consultation and diagnosis, referred me to his partner Dr Erinc Akture. From the beginning, Doctor Akture inspired us with confidence, amazing us with the statement that he could do the procedure using minimally invasive surgery and I'd probably be out of hospital the same day! (I was expecting a minimum of a three day stay with possible week after researching my issue on the web - bulging disc, severe spondylolisthesis at L4-L5 - all sorts of issues). In practice, Dr Akture briefed me on the day with what to expect and, true to his word, I woke up with NO PAIN! I was expecting at least some incision pain but nothing, nothing at all. I carefully followed his instructions and returned yesterday for the follow up where I was told all was well, return to normal life. I am completely overawed with his expertise and would recommend him and Advent Health Daytona to anyone with a similar condition. Patrick Randall, Palm Coast
I just had my surgery on Thursday for the decompression of my L3,L4 L5 and a discectomy. Today is only day three but I feel amazingly better. Having Dr.Akture doing this surgery was the best decision I could have made. If anyone is in pain the way I was, I’d highly recommend. Dr. Akture and Advent Health Daytona Beach. He and the entire team were terrific! Thank you for making me feel so much better!
Had ACDF surgery done by Dr. Acture. He was friendly, kind, and compassionate. He answered all questions and was a great doctor.
Dr.Akture is doing surgery on my husband. We met with him today. Dr. Akture described in detail of the procedure. He made us feel very comfortable.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
