I was admitted to DMC for inguinal hernia surgery. It was noted on my admission that I suffer from PTSD. My mental health status was NEVER EVER mentioned by her. I assumed any competent anesthetist would review the patient's medical history and discuss it before deciding on a treatment plan. Hanna never discussed it with me for even a second and wound up giving me Versed, a potent benzodiazepine. Benzodiazepines are contra indicated in people with PTSD. My mind has not been the same since she slipped me that medication without even saying anything to me. It would have been nice if she said "ok. I'm going to give you something now." Nope! Not a word. Like I was slipped a Ruffie. Had she talked to me for even one minute I could have told her I was a doctor and told her about my PTSD, but she never even walked into my room, just talked for a few seconds from the doorway. Too bad that this will probably never get read or responded to.
