This doctor is awesome. I have seen two other doctors for medication management. For many years I was self medicating Dr. Ekstein got me on the right meds and changed my life.

Extein has been treating a family member of mine, who he diagnosed with bipolar disorder, for the past 20 years. Aside from some of the questionable medications he has and continues to prescribe (diet pills linked to neurological effects to someone with a long history of eating disorders, for example), my family and I have witnessed a steep decline in our loved one's mental state over the past 5-7 years (including at least one full on psychotic episode which resulted in them having to be Baker Acted, legal issues and Extein's approval of several rounds of ECT, which has resulted in severe memory loss and concentration decline - neither of which has he addressed by ways of having them seek additional post-traumatic treatment with the help of a cognitive therapist or psychologist, to help with memory or stress management). My family has on several occasions over the years requested that our loved one seek help from a different provider - which is always met with defensive behavior and excuses of why Extein is the "only" doctor that can treat them. I have personally joined in on appointments with Extein, and have had several conversations with him outside of the office about my families' concerns for our loved one's mental health and well-being. This has resulted in increased tension and infighting within the family, and no change to his methods (which are neglectful at best) with our loved one. I'm surprised there are not more malpractice suits against him. We will continue to try to pry our loved one away from this "doctor" and place them in the care of someone else who is more qualified.

My family & I have been trying to get our family member to seek treatment from another doctor for over 5 years. Extein continues to prescribe diet pills to someone with a history of eating disorders, who is also biopolar. After a psychotic episode a few years ago, which resulted in legal issues, Extein Ok'd several rounds of ECT, which resulted in long-term cognitive and memory issues. Neither of which he cares to suggest additional (outside) treatment for, nor does he provide himself. We will continue to try to get our loved one to seek treatment elsewhere as Extein has demonstrated time and again his inability to provide adequate, effective treatment.

Dr. Extein is the best!! He is extremely compassionate and skilled and trustworthy in treating my husband’s bi-polar condition. He has gone above and beyond on many occasions to make himself available for both my husband’s and my concerns.

He is the Best. His compassion and professionalism goes beyond 5 stars. We are so lucky he saved our sons life. Thank you

This man is an abomination. My mother who will be 100 in January is suffering and I truly mean suffering from dimentia which is a devasting disease for her and our family, however, she has no control over what she says or does. DR EXSTEIN has forgotten his Hippocratic oath to help and heal. He has refused to treat her with no explanation which was passed onto us by her family Dr. We are going n a dreadful position because of him. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS MAN. My next letter is to the AMA.
