Dr. Brenner needs to improve his ability to advocate for the patient related to drug options & genetic mutations, clinical trial option suggestions, open communication. If the physician can’t do this then the office needs to provide services that fight for and assist or guides the patient. We were very much alone.

My experience over the last two years has been very positive. Wait time is minimal, and his explanation as to his decisions for treatment course had been easily understood and described with care. His staff is very professionsl as is the entire office.

My mother was sent to Dr Brenner by Johns Hopkins with a recommended medical plan for chemo for her pancreatic cancer. Dr Brenner sent her for a second biopsy which caused her to end up in the hospitals for two weeks and delayed her treatment for an additionally 3 weeks. Which in end caused her cancer to spread to her liver and lungs. During this time Dr Brenner NEVER contacted my mother onne. He said was trying to contact Johns Hopkins and HE STILL HAS NEVER CALL US BACK 4 weeks later.

Given your condition, you will be given a couple of drug choices. Ask the success rate, and he will say there is not enough data to predict outcome. If you ask for referral to other treatments, he'd say he will try reaching out to others - three weeks later, nothing. In essence, it's a numbers game for him. Do your due diligence and search for additional treatments and/or applicable clinical trials not just what he prescribes.

Dr. Brenner is an outstanding clinician, explains everything in great detail and ensures that patients understand. I'm a healthcare professional but needed him to explain a few times as hematology related conditions can be complicated. He is patient, caring, compassionate and flexible to meet our needs. I feel fortunate to have received his name from another physician and feel safe in his care.
