Psych care is a journey, ups and downs, detours and breakdowns but if she is your doc you are in excellent hands. You may wait occasionally but she is truly helping a client, never screwing around with pharmaceutical reps or distractions. If you think you know better than her about the condition you have, believe me, she knows her stuff but works with you to reach the best mental health condition. It is up to you to be successful, it may take one, two or three meds or treatments to help but she expects you to do your part—-take your meds, keep appointments and be HONEST. Being less than forthcoming and not participating in your own care, failure is on you. I know of what I speak. She has seen me through the death of my daughter, a much needed hospitalization, been available no matter the hour, and supported me. THANK YOU DR SIMKIN.

Don’t bother calling not seeing new patients. Guy on the phone was a bit rude as well.

Dr. Simkin is the best adolescent psychiatrist in the Southeast. She is also board certified in alternative medicine. She is most excellent with years of experience in the treatment of difficult patients. Highly recommend

She started the appointment by asking me random questions over and over again that I couldn’t understand. Another time, she left the video call without even telling me that our appointment was done.

She’s horrible she treated me wrong and tried to prescribe me multiple medications she talked to me like I am dumb she kept bringing up that she went to Harvard like that had anything to do with what we came there for

Rude staff with no regard for the difficulties of the types of patients they are hoping to serve. Inflexible scheduling for first-time patients makes this office an unnecessarily difficult process for anyone dealing with sleep-related issues, as your first session can only be set in the morning. I myself have just dealt with the repercussions of this as I was unable to wake up early enough to make my initial appointment, and when I tried to call no one answered. When her office finally called me back, it was not to inquire my situation but rather to personally berate me and inform me that I had 'ruined their morning' even as I was going through an panic attack brought on by the fact that I missed an appointment that I desperately needed in order to receive treatment I've been searching for in the area for over a year and a half now, even as my life has been steadily degrading due to my conditions. Perhaps Dr. Simkins could have helped me, and my life would be on a better path, but I'll never know because even though when I desperately tried to call to explain my situation my call went straight to voicemail, and the first response I heard was "You have ruined OUR morning." To Dr. Simkins receptionist specifically: You are dealing with people in various forms of distress. Learn to have the barest shred of empathy. In summation: Inflexible, Unreliable phone system with no E-mail to back it up, and a callous front desk with an obvious lack of understanding of her clientele. I have never in my life had so much difficulty dealing with a psychiatrist's office or treated so rudely by one. Avoid at all costs.

We love Dr. Simkin. She saved our son's life. I think it's going on four years since we met with the doctor. Our son having had issues four years prior to us meeting her had a catastrophic seizure event that hospitalized him for almost a week. Thank you doctor for stepping in and helping all these other doctors see the light. She was able to run test and recommend the proper prescription that has helped our son not have seizures for 4 years now. Yes she continues to help us with other things and i recommend her to anyone.

My son has been under Dr. Simkin's care for a number of years. While she can be gruff at times, I believe she has my son's best interests at heart and truly wants to help him. That's all that matters.
