All I can say is to watch your loved one closely and make sure they receive the best care because not all of the medical or administrators have the best interest of the patient at heart! My mother was there too long when she should have been taken to palliative care but after her deterioration, she was sent to hospice to die! The pandemic prevented me from visiting and she was at the mercy of the staff at Select! After the doctor attempted to play God and terminate her life through my mom’s legal guardian I had no confidence in that place! She lived even though her ventilator was disconnected but suffered much as a patient there! It was a horrible experience and I am heart broken that an incapacitated person had to experience such horrific care! Yes, there were a few medical staff that did their job at best but they are overworked. A very high turnover of nurses there! If I could rate zero, I would!
The food at Select Specialty Hospital South has been excellent. They were diverse and very good. The best part was the mashed potatoes. I was told they were actually real potatoes and not instant. The first chicken Marsala that I ate was delicious. Last night it was a little salty but good. Anyone coming here can expect delicious meals
I wanted to stay thank you to Select Hospital, they have wonderful employees. The two ladies at the front desk. The physical therapy team was wonderful. Special thanks to Ava, Gerney, Natacha, Carline, Laura, Fresner, Marie S., Michelle, Emilio, Nicole, and all the other employees that assist me throughout my stay. Prayers goes out to you all. Keep doing a wonderful job. My wound nurse, ty.
When my husband first arrived there I thought they were a pretty Good place. Through the weeks I found out different. Not only do they never answer the phone, they don’t tell you anything. The nurses have no clue what is going on most of the time. Most only administer meds. And they don’t speak English well so it’s hard to understand them. I’ve received two calls, and that was because I called many times to speak with his doctor. They ignore him a lot. He has many problems and it’s one after the other. Sarah , DOH was attentive the first couples of times although nothing came of it. Now she doesn’t even call back. Not run properly for a critical care facility. Think twice
Select Specialty hospital- Orlando South. My Husband was sent to Select on 08/25/2021 after 2 long months in ICU due to Covid Pnemonia on the very first night I was very concerned and called to see if they would allow me to see my husband that night after visiting hours and the charge nurse Jessica quickly said yes please come so that he could feel comfortable, On the very next day I was there at 2pm for Visiting hours, Daira the case manager was excellent she helped me with everything I need it during his Stay until the last day, When he was transferred to Rehab facility, The Doctors were excellent Doctor, Vangala, Colleen, Alex and Pulmonologist Dr. Ali and assistants did everything to make sure he was healthy and ready for rehab. I have to say I was there everyday with him and the nurses and Cna were all excellent. Erica, Jonathan , Christian he had them a lot of times and were always super attentive. Diane nurse supervisor was super nice always came by to visit our room. Alex Mercado was always making sure that we were ok and if I had any questions he would always get the correct person to help me. He has even taking his time to contacted me several times even after we left to see how he was doing. A special Thank you to Ana and Lulu from respiratory I really love how much they enjoy their work. they made sure that he left there without his trache and that has really helped him in the Rehab facility, Overall I have to say that we had an excellent experience and hope everyone else has the same.
After a glitch or two staff and Drs were awesome and took really great care of my husband, I had no issues trying to speak to anyone... I want to thank each and every one of them...
After seeing the reviews, me and my siblings were a little worried about Select Specialty Hospital. But after 26 days in there, we had nothing bad to say about the place or the nurses that she had.My mom went through a lot. She was at the hospital for 43 days and the day before she was transported, a feeding tube was added. I think between the feeding tube and being transported at 215am on Saturday morning, it traumatized my mother! She was nonverbal for about a week! All the nurses were great at Select! They were caring. I would like to give a special shout out to Lymari (she was the first nurse that had my mom [for 4 days straight] and was shocked to see towards the end of her stay, how much she had progressed!) Also, I would like to give a shout out to Emilio, Alexandra, Christian [he was her nurse maybe once BUT he was around to help out many times!], Maribel, Debora, Jeannette, Caroline and Ligia. The therapists were great too- Samantha and Laura (can’t remember the names of the other ones- sorry!)The front desk ladies- Roxanne and Jannifer, very nice and friendly.Definitely recommend this place. Even though it’s hard to communicate with the nurses over the phone, they do recommend you call them after 12pm if you have any questions and you won’t be able to see your family member on that day. My mom eventually had her phone so we communicated with her.Thank you to the nurses for taking care of my mom! God bless you all.
I am very surprised to see people trashing this hospital. My brother was brought to Specialty in very bad condition, due to complications from Covid. Unfortunately, my brother passed away after being there for 3 weeks. I found the hospital staff to be very caring, efficient and helpful in keeping me informed of my brothers condition.I also believe they did everything they could to try and keep him alive. Dr Powers called me numerous times to update me on his condition. I am sure the hospital is not a perfect place, but I think the staff should receive praise for their hard work and dedication to help their patients.Thank you to the entire staff and God bless all of you.
My experience with Select Specialty Hospital was good. Great personnel and service. Food was excellent. I want to thank each and every one of their staff. Thank you to: Laura, Carline, Mentor, Lymari, Juan, Maribel, Anna, Desiree, José, D, Emilio, Francisco, Casey, Caroline, Paola, the doctors. To all of you that I do not recall your name...THANK YOU! I definitely recommend this hospital to family and friends.
I’m convinced that the people who have nothing but great things to say about Select Specialty Hospital are either staff or were at this hospital for minor issues.I’m exhausted even thinking about recounting everywhere this hospital failed my father. My father was admitted at the end of February and stayed at select for over 3 months until he had to be transferred to ORMC, with infections and wounds so debilitating it led to his eventual death just 2 weeks later. His primary physician while at Select was Dr. Powers, and while I feel like there could’ve been better communication from the beginning, he ended up being the only person with an ounce of credibility or empathy in all of my father’s care at Select.I was present 2-3 times a week physically at the hospital (other family members were there every other day) and these are my observations based on being there physically and also my attempts to reach them by telephone. Most of the nurses do not introduce themselves upon entering patient room, do not inform the patient of what they are doing to them, do not know basic information pertaining to patient status or care, do not ask the patient if they need anything or wait to listen to them (especially important for trach patients who can not vocally speak) and do not take any initiative care beyond administering meds. House supervisors, like Joana, Miriam, Michael, who are in charge of the floor are useless, unable to answer basic questions relating to care, unable to rectify problems, and crass. The Chief Nursing Officer, Sarah, is nice and flowery on the surface but is also unable to provide meaningful solutions to the ongoing issues, her main role seems to be “placate the family”. The wound care nurse Vil-Mary will quickly go over serious issues and when questions arise, she is quick to reassure that everything is fine and under control (this was one week before my dad had to be admitted into ORMC for the surgical removal of necrotic tissue). The quality control department also is of no use and will send letters that grossly minimize the complaints and situations to give the appearance that the hospital cared appropriately, when I have documentation otherwise.I have documentation of my fathers complaints not even 2 weeks into his unfortunate stay at this hospital. I have photos of conditions he was left in one day, only to find that absolutely nothing has changed the next. I have photos of blood-soiled linens and blood all over my father on a day when his physician told me “if the nurse reports any additional blood loss, we will transfuse him”, and when I asked the nurse if he was transfused, she simply replied no. It was found that my father had lost a significant amount of blood. It was always one thing after another with this hospital and I feel like I was an unpaid intern for the amount of time I dedicated to extracting medical information and tracking down anyone who could put two coherent sentences together regarding my father's care. They want to blame everything on his primary physician stating that he is the person who should be informing me, and in fact he WAS the only person who gave me any specific information. Unfortunately he can not control the incompetence of the rest of the staff, though I wish by some magic he could have because then my father might still have had a chance.Amongst other things they are not equipped to handle trach care, hygiene routines, nor keep their promise of moving the patient every two hours to prevent bed sores and wounds. We were cornered into this place due to lack of availability in our area, but if we had known the eventual outcome then we would have never sent him there. A farther option may be a safer option. Every single person in power at the Select Specialty Hospital Orlando South location should be ashamed for the level of care they perpetuate. This has all been well documented with their complaint department, but they’re incapable of reading their own records that I have with all the inconsistencies. This won’t be the last they will hear of my family.
Well maintained and everyone is very helpful I appreciate all the help they have given my mother while fighting covid.....thank you
I recommend Select Specialty Hospital 100%, it was very good for my husband's recovery, he had a hemorrhagic stroke and his recovery would be very difficult, after he went to Select he recovered in a few weeks, he no longer needs intubation and returned to having all the movements of his body! 🙌 I am very grateful to the physiotherapists, the nurses, the social worker! We were very well received and they treated us with a lot of humanity, affection and respect! I am very happy with my husband's recovery! I recommend Select Specialty Hospital to everyone who needs a place of excellence, attention and special care! Thank you very much to all professionals at this hospital! Melissa Crescenti.

IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR LOVED ONE DO NOT TAKE THEM SPECIALTY.My husband was at this facility (S. Orange Ave) because he was recovering from an long ICU stay due to Covid Pneumonia. Prior to his transfer from Advent Health we were told he would be receiving same care, PT, RT, we can call nurses for updates, team of doctors , etc. This facility is HORRIBLE.- Per hospital policy, nurses are not allowed to give you any medical updates about your loved ones. ONLY BASIC info such as if they ate or had bowel movement.-Nurses YELL and MOCK (make fun of pts)-Nurses are all mostly PRN's that only work once in a while. They are only there to give meds. They do not care about the patients they only work there for "extra money OR cannot get hired anywhere else"-Nurses (95% DO NOT SPEAK GOOD ENGLISH)-Nurse LYDIA HELISH YELLED at my husband , saying he should not be there if he can shower and that they should not shower there because they have bad plumbing. The plumbing backed up and FLOODED MY HUSBANDS ROOM WHILE HE WAS SHOWERING , THERE WAS SEWAGE WASTE EVERYWHERE. Nurse yelled at my husband and DID NOT HELP HIM , she walked out of the room and never came back. After we complain, the result was "she was re-educated"- The specialist that work there are CONSULTANTS. The Pulmonologist NEVER walked past the door to check my husband, he sent his NP . do- DO NOT EXPECT DOCTOR TO CALL YOU TO LET YOU KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON - THEY WILL NOT UNLESS YOU COMPLAIN.- Senior nurse SARAH will NOT return your messages or calls.- Diane (in charge of taking complains) will not listen or help you with anything. She refused to give me her last name stating everyone knows who I am just say Diane.- Specialty will not get your records (images such as IMPORTANT INFO XRAYS AND CT SCANS from hospital -per DIANE, you can get them yourself). Doctors will just REPEAT EVERYTHING.- RT (respiratory therapist) DO NOT CHECK ON PTS. They only come in the room to give pt the treatment , walk out leave machine on. They dont even return to turn off the machine. One night, they did not come in and my husband asked nurse to call them 3 times, They NEVER CAME.PLEASE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR LOVED ONE. TAKE THEM TO ANOTHER FACILITY.
5 star treatment, whole staff phenomenal, food is Great, professional and caring at the same time, I recommend to anyone who has a love one to choose this Edgewood site for these many reasons.
This facility should be investigated. Nurses , Doctors, Respiratory Therapist are horrible! No one cares about the patients. No one wants to do their job- nurses and techs sit in the hallway on phones or chitchatting. ALL staff ARE UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE! Most nurses do not speak fluent English. No one knows what’s going on with their patient NOR do they care. Buses and techs do not clean after themselves, leaving needles and bloody cotton on patients table, you have to tell them to dispose of it. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE, so sad that a medical facility like this is allowed to operate and mistreat patients. DO NOT transfer your loved one to this facility.
Horrible experience with this hospital. My mom told me "all nurses act like not human. They treat ed me so bad. I was there everyday with my mom during visit time and I had to take care of my mom because the nurses never answer the call from the room.
Todo la atención es excelente los recomiendo full los doctores son excelentes las enfermeras son excelentes a mi esposo esta súper bien Gracias adiós y los doctores y la enfermera la comida súper bien
The care they treated me with was top of the line. And the meals never failed to satisfy. I've been hospitalized before and I could not have been treated any better.
My husband has been here several weeks now. I ended up with Covid and hospitalized several weeks 100 miles south where we live. Recently released home on oxygen and home health due to post Covid complications. I call Select every 2-3 days to check on my husband. They transfer calls around and just rings and rings and finally disconnects. Takes several calls to the House Supervisor who basically doesn’t listen to my request to see my husband on FaceTime or zoom or some video chat. She always blows me off. Once in a while the case manager will do it but she’s most time busy. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to request to see my husband!!! Please you need to talk to your staff This is my husband of 40 years. We aren’t in the dark ages anymore. I am an Rn of 30 years and would have shown compass for my patients!
