List of MIchael Mccann's Reviews
My visit with Dr. McCann was a horrible experience and a total waste of my time. After being assured by his staff that he would look at the CT scan images--not just the report--on my visit, he did not. He was perfectly satisfied with only partial information. When I tried to tell him the images were important, (and while it's not ideal, I have a screenshare video of me scrolling the images I could have shown him), he actually patted me on the arm, and said, Calm down now, and completely dismissed me. I half-expected him to add "Hysteria" to my "diagnosis." Horrible, horrible, experience. When I saw people complain about his bedside manner, I laughed it off.... I thought, If I want someone to hold my hand and cry with me, I'll bring a friend, but No... This is beyond bad bedside manner. This is being transported to the 1950's. Pathetic.
Great bedside manners
Not so good. Dr. McCann operated on me for diverticulitis in August 2018. I developed a leak at the connection site, which he denied. Had another surgery for ileostomy. Meanwhile, Dr McCann left his practice, without telling me , while I was still under his care. Not very thoughtful. Next I developed sepsis and nearly died. Went to another colorectal group when it was time to reconnect my colon and they suggested Cleveland Clinic or Tampa General. After my first surgery, but before ileostomy, I asked Dr McCann to explain to me about what was happening. He never called. Totally unprofessional.
I had a real bad equine wreck, 5 broken ribs, shoulder blade leaky lung. Dr.McCann is in Idaho's EIRMC hoslital. He is incredibly caring, skilled, and highly intelligent. He told me he loves what he is doing. I had two other Montana doctors working on me from St.Petes in Helena who were awful... they did nit want to repair my ribs .. just said some how let them heal... unacceptable! After much research, I found Dr. McCann in Idaho falls at EIRMC. With the latest technology available, he repaired and plated my ribs with titanium. In short, he gave me my body back, skillfully repaired, to be able to go on and enjoy life. many many thank you great surgeon doctor!
It has been 1 year since Dr McCann did surgery on my diverticulitis. He opened me up in November 2017 and put me back together in April 2018. He saved my life and I am 100 per cent thanks to him. I would trust him with my life again and am very grateful. Keith nelson
Dr. McCann seems to know a lot about traditional lower spine/disc issues and treatments. That is, he asked me if PT had helped, performed two procedures to inject steroids in my spine in hopes of shrinking irritated nerves. He later referred me to a doc to discuss surgical options, which, apparently for me is only fusion. Both he and the surgeon urged me not to have surgery as it has a pretty weak record of success and plenty of downsides. I admire their integrity. However, I had to bring to the fiscussion what about disc replacement. I prefer a doc tell me about all optipns and why they may or may not work. In terms if the staff, they are the worst I've ever had to deal with. As others have noted, and apparently this has been a longstanding issue, they will not answer the phone and will not return calls. If I didn't basically have confidence in McCann, I'd never go back here. Really terrible patient service. Wait times are also awful. I've had to wait over an hour past my appointment times every time. I've also had to wait hours for a scheduled procedure to start because of equipment problems. So, bottom line, I give McCann good grades for knowledge, not so good for timeliness and patient education. The staff gets an F- .
If I could give negative ratings for bedside manner and ability to have a discussion with this doctor I would do that in a second. And this was after waiting two hours to see him; in an empty waiting room. He was disrespectful, curt and demeaning to my teenaged daughter. She was in chronic pain and just looking for help, or at least some hope. Perhaps he couldn't help her (other doctors have though) but he was so ugly about it. He was such a jerk.
TRANSPHOBIC as the day is long. This Dr. Is very rude, his opinion is fact apparently and truly treated me as if I were a piece o ... on his shoe. Yes he does do good work, but his bull and his staff full of themselves and incompetent are not work it. Somewhere close to $40, 0000 my insurance paid ... I was out $750 for my copay and still had trouble getting my paperwork for my Job, and anyone to answer the phone, or just do their job. The staff sits on their butts and don't care about the patients. This Dr. Regards transgender as a mental illness and is not at all open to listening to the patient since his opinion was formulated already. Nasty, rude and unprofessional ...but hey he makes ALOT of money so why should he care. GO ELSEWHERE !
If you require a follow up visit, then why would we not be told after his procedure to make an appt that day? Especially since the staff takes their sweet time to call you back?? Been waiting since Friday, it's now Wednesday, and my husband still can not go back to work, because no one will return his messages. He even has paperwork stating he can go back to work as long as he felt normal. And now we are being told after two weeks that he needs to have a follow up visit, but yet you won't even call him back to schedule his appt. SORRY STAFF at this place. I should sue them all
Dr McCann helped my daughter with Complex Regional Pain Disorder with a lumbar block and gave her hope of walking again without pain. He also talked to her about PT and gave her exercises to do to restore the muscles in her foot. We found everyone at the office to be helpful and great with a 14 year old.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
