List of Optical Outlets's Reviews
I ordered two pairs of glasses at this establishment. I waited about 3 weeks to hear back about my glasses but I didn’t. I proceeded to call and they told me my glasses had just been sitting in the back without notifying me. I was like okay, fine mistakes happen. I get there and one of the glasses are the incorrect frame which I understand is the labs problem. Anyways, it’s been over a week and I wake up today to a call that my glasses are ready. I get there and they present to me the same frames that I told them were incorrect. They had called me by accident. The ladies are sweet, but considering I spent $500 on glasses I am reasonably annoyed at the lack of respect for my time and money. I did not make a fuss, but I will write a review, it’s been a month since I had my appointment and I am still missing a pair of glasses. Update: The office manager called me and apologized. It seems they have recently changed management and are working on their customer service/ efficiency. She also offered me 10% of my money back and will personally be notifying me when my glasses are ready. For that, I increased their rating.
We are new to Florida. I brought my kids in for a appointment. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. We sat forever. We seen a male eye doctor. They did the eye exam in literally 5 minutes!!!!??? They were so unprofessional and were more worried about talking and laughing with each other than helping the customers. It took almost 2 hours of sitting there waiting for someone to assist with picking frames. I watched many come and go that was there after us. I wish I would have checked around before choosing this place. They told me I had to get both pairs of glasses while I was there or I would lose the other pair. After speaking to my insurance that was a untrue fact. I ended up having to pay out of pocket to have my daughters eyes rechecked and new frames. Of course her prescription was incorrect. I even gave them her previous prescription to give a starting point. But you are only worth 5 minutes of time. They seem to only care about the money........... very sad. On a good note. I found a new eye doctor for them that cares about their patients.
Staff is nice, but the waiting is ridiculous! I’ve been here a few different times (exam, glasses pickup, glasses fix) and all times I’ve had to wait a real long time to be seen. Not much of a variety of glasses, most of them look real cheap and the place stinks. If it wasn’t that this is the only place that accepts my insurance, I wouldn’t be back.
I would like to share my own personal experience with Optical Outlets on more than one occasion and with different associates helping me. The associates and office manager were very professional. The office manager was very helpful and remained calmed through the extremely high volume of customers who were coming in and out of the office.
This optical business has recently been renovated and offers exceptional service with fantastic pricing. The eye doctor is friendly and thorough. Brittany went above and beyond to assist me in choosing frames and lenses and I was able to get two pair which would have been the cost of one at any other optical facility. My lenses were expedited as I needed them before my trip and I have received many compliments. I would highly recommend if you need examination and new glasses.
Worst experience I've had in 35+ years of wearing/buying glasses. Display frames were all dirty with smudged lenses. Employees were rude/or inexperienced/ignorant. My first pair of glasses took 3 weeks and the employee I spoke to over the phone argued with me about whether they give patients a phone call when their glasses are ready. When I go to pick my glasses up, one lense is gouged with a scratch and the plastic wire under the lense had debris stuck in it. The employee made some excuse and took them to the back to clean them, finding the same gouge... the frames were sent out again to have the lenses replaced. I was called today to let me know they were ready for the second time. This time the lense was set improperly and the lense bulged from the front of the frame. After arguing with the front desk girl about just wanting my money back, a polite person who worked there did help get the lense back in but once home and upon further inspection the lense is poorly shaped and doesn't fit the frame in the inner corner. The whole place was very shabby and I was disappointed when my glasses were just handed to me in a branded soft case like they didn't cost hundreds of dollars. Every time I have ever purchased glasses they were cleaned and presented to me and we're fit properly to my face by a professional. Don't waste your time and money.
I am handicap and it takes great effort to walk inside the store. There was a delivery truck blocking the front parking, so I parked to the side.... I was sent out to move my vehicle before being served to just p/u a pair of glasses. Seemed petty for a 2 minute p/u of glasses to make me circle the building till the delivery truck finally moved. Glasses and other service was fine. This could have been a controlling employee.
The people there have been absolutely wonderful. Friendly, compassionate, and seem genuinely happy to help. Good value for what you get.
Optical Outlets in Gainesville has great deals, good selection of frames and excellent customer service! Brittany was patient, persistent and effective in facilitating us being able to use our insurance benefits!!!! She is clearly a great asset to the Optical Outlet team!!!
The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because I feel like they fell far short on the pickup process. I sat down in front of the guy, he hands me the glasses case and tells me to put them on and sends me on my way. No cleaning, No checking the fit, No adjustments, Nothing. The lenses were filthy with some sort of fog and fingerprints. They didn't give any complementary lens cleaner or anything. I usually like them a bit tighter so they're not slipping down your nose constantly but not an adjustment of any kind was attempted. I figured, ok I will just wear them for awhile and see if I get used to em. I think the slipping thing is very annoying still. The rest of the process was great. The eye exam was good and the doctor was great at explaining a few things to me to answer my questions and concerns. The person who helped me pick out the frames was good and I was pleased with the selection and her recommendation. However the one thing, one of the most important things, the actual getting them and putting them on my face, (it took 2 weeks for them to come in) fell far short of my usual experience and was a, here ya go have a nice day kind of thing. It kind of brought the whole experience down for me and didn't measure up. For the money it costs, I expected a bit better service and think they could have done better. They did in the past and is the only reason I kept returning there over the years.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
