Palm Garden's Online Review Report Card

After being unable to get ahold of anyone for weeks I ended up finding their email. I got an immediate response and a call from the nurse. I feel much better now that I have information on my dad that I wasn't given before.

My dad was sent here weeks ago. I've talked to a nurse twice. They never answer the phone or the phone rings busy. Social worker was supposed to call me a few days after he arrived and I haven't heard from them. Called today, nurses station rang busy, called back and asked for social worker, call went to what sounded like a voicemail then disconnected.  I would never recommend anyone to come here.

Usually this facility was rated 2nd when I was assessing facilities for the Red Cross that was going to teach a CNA course. Last year I was there for 6 weeks. I have to say as a older, functional person, who is a nurse practitioner with 48 years experience then; this facility left a lot to be desired. I could enumerate these failings, but you want my understanding, not my enumeration. They have lost something. Direction, supervision, appreciation, or understanding. Something has been lost. Young friends of mine who worked there agree. A year later I was in another facility for three weeks that made a serious difference in the things mentioned above. That is where I met people who had worked there previously, and they were also critical.

A pit! My brother laid in bed, 23 hours a day (supposed to be there for PT/OT rehab) with bedsores they didn't change for 3 days. Food was inedible, cold, packaged, sugary, greasy, fatty. (My brother was on a post cardiac surgery diet! ) Nurses were nowhere to be seen for hours  when requested. (They were sitting at the front desk ignoring patient calls.)When we chose to leave, they refused to give us our records, prescriptions, current medications, or assist us to our car. They claimed a doctor refused to authorize us to leave- he had never even seen my brother or examined him. I WOULDN'T SEND A DOG THERE.

My mother in law is in the rehab part for about a month due to a drain in her gallbladder and her alf does not have the facilities to care for a drain,, anyway,, everyone there is so nice, but it is awful trying to reach the room,,, have tried several days and never can get through,, it rings and rings over and over,, we have to go thru the nurses station to even try to reach her and then we get disconnected and have to call many times. Admissions advised we have some paperwork to take care of and it was to be faxed to us 2 days ago, and have not received it.  Have made, 5 phone calls just within the last 20 minutes to try to reach someone to speak to regarding this matter.. First call, we were transferred and we left a message,(this was early today), this afternoon called back at 408- we were transferred to the nurses station, which rang over 20 times then went to reorder, called back(#3)- we were transferred again and reached voicemail, with a full mailbox- called again(#4) reached Megan, who answ the phone was not in admissions, but was in a ward somehwhere who advised us to call back and press 0 to get the receptionist-- Called again(#5) called back, reached receptionist, adv her i believe i need admissions, was transferred to guest services/admissions where again i reached a voicemail, but did get to leave a message----  i give up for the day--- It should not take this much to reach a human regarding paperwork that they need for my mom.

My mother has been to this facility several times over the years.  It is very clean, attractive, and comfortable.  The staff is handpicked to create a positive and uplifting environment.  We have really appreciated the care here.  The nursing and PT staff is very good.  I have been to a few of the rehab facilities here in Gainesville and this is one of the nicest.  We don't go anywhere else.  This is our top choice.

Great facility. Staff very friendly and helpful. Business Office is the best. I'm been very impressed. They just renovated the rooms also.
