List of Gregory Onderko's Reviews
fine at first, till i presented him with a real problem outside psychiatry/ personal issue.
I saw him during pregnancy and he honestly stated he wouldn't recommend the abilify shot to his daughter. I saw him again to redo a psych eval. I was first diagnosed with schizophrenia but then heard from several doctors it could be a different diagnosis. He kept going on about the importance of a shot for schizophrenia. I kept asking when are we going to get to the psych eval? We can address treatment after we get the proper diagnosis. He went on explaining what schizophrenia was. Then went on about medication again. I informed him i have a BA in Psychology and am very aware of schizophrenia. It was apparent he was not going to do the eval so i left. Felt taken advantage of. Caused trauma reliving the times of being taken advantage of by many because of my mental illness and childhood youth. Many of these therapist and psychiatrist are sick themselves and have never received treatment. Some abuse drugs because of the guilt from taking advantage of patients and pressuring medication even on pregnant women. Sometimes its their boss pressuring them to do this. They think they are getting away with this and are afraid of leaving their lifestyle, but the guilt grows and they get sicker. Don't see how he can sleep at night. Stay away.
He claims he has made a great living in life and doesn't have to be here at suncoast in st.pete. I don't know his experiences with others but with me it was horrible. He intimidated me, yelled at me and my support system (mom, nephew, case manager). He was arrogant and bragged about all he has done in his field. He later stormed out of his office after yelling at us and kicking us out. We didn't even get to address the reason we were there which was med management. He scared and affected me so much i had a panic attack as i walked out his office. People standing around helped my ao called dr. O did nothing. Didnt even ask me how i was doing when i went to see him nor when i was having panic attack.
Dr. Gregory Onderko at suncoast inc in st. Pete will discontinue your meds and allow you to suffer for months before rudely dismissing you as a patient. As a patient i was too intimidated to speak freely and never did i raise my voice or give him any attitude but he sure did raise his voice and spoke with an attitude towards my mom and me. We never even got to address the reason we came to appt or anything. Dr. O just lost it. Oh and immediately after i had a panic attack all caused by the unnecessary stress he caused me. I'm still uneasy and just dont understand how he could just start yelling at us and talking about his accolades. He said he doesnt have to be there at suncoast...well if he doesn't have to then he can go on and allow a spot open for someone else who actually wants to help their patients and listen to patients. All he ever did was dictate to me and stop me cold turkey on meds i had been taking for years. 3 visit was my last.
I have read all 23 of the reviews. Dr. Onderko has the best interest of his patients at heart and literally saved my life! I personally have witnessed the comments regarding his office staff, but to my knowledge resolved. As far as the comments regarding Dr. O, I also have witnessed those patients he had to deal with and he handled them professionally. He is the best by far in his profession and does so with care and professionalism. I would recommend anyone to him in a heartbeat.
I saw Dr O for 10 years. I thought he was the best thing that ever happened to me. I was wrong. He started acting like a jerk. When he moved away from the 26th st location he had his wife working the front desk and phones. She is a nasty rude woman. She was so mean to me. When I told Dr O about it he got very irate and out of no where dropped me as a patient of 10 years all because of his wife. He wouldnt take my calls. I was on medication for my illness and I ran out and he didnt care. I went psychotic because of that. Stopping meds like that is very dangerous. I found a new dr but Dr O refused to give him or myself my records of 10 years. Which was so important to my new dr and mental health. Dr O makes you believe hes great and gods gift. But get on his bad side and he will make you pay. Im glad his practice fell to the ground. Im glad he is changing professions. I just feel bad for the new people in his new career as an attorney from what I've heard.
Dr. Ondorko is a genuine loving and caring person. If you have ever seen his smile you should know he is truly a beautiful blessed spirit and he in no way lacks natural affection. I'm so thankful for him, will never forget him. I'm so sorry to see he had to bounce and he'll always be missed. Hey what could be a pitfall use it as a steppingstone and anything that can't penetrate ricochets and so on and so forth, yuh know all those kinds of momentums and what not's. Well, XOXO's to Doctor O and may God be him and bless him and always keep him in His care!
I have been a patient of Dr. Onderko for over 8 years now. I think everyone knows that one can go through a few psychiatrist before finding one who is willing to listen, is there when you need him, and will go above and beyond what is necessary to help you work out whatever mental challenges you may be unable to overcome. Additionally, this Doctor is not simply a "pill-mill" for lack of better words. He promotes a healthy life-style and as little medication as necessary to achieve desired goals. After 8 years--I feel qualified to highly recommend this Doctor as one of the best psychiatrists you will find anywhere.
Dr. Ornderko is a kind, compassionate, caring, and knowledge Doctor!! I am sorry that he left on sabbatical, but it is my hope that he kinds the PEACE AND SERENITY he needs!! What a beautiful human being....he will be missed!!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
