I became a patient of Dr. Stacy Binns-Brown, a psychiatrist at Psychiatric Specialty Center, in November 2018. While I believe she is an excellent psychiatrist, it has been especially difficult for me to admit publicly that I went to see a psychiatrist and even more difficult for me to share a public review. Further, it is often easier for people to share a negative review than to share a positive review, but as part of my overall well-being and my belief that psychiatrists play a vital role in the total health of my life and the life of our society, I share this review. Dr. Binns-Brown has an ideal demeanor and temperament to be a psychiatrist. She was professional, calm, and attentive. I felt comfortable talking with and sharing private information with her, and she further gained my trust as she professionally conducted her evaluation in a manner that allowed me to be my authentic self while allowing her to collect adequate information and make the necessary observations. I need not share, for purposes of this review, her assessment of me. Rather, I share this review to inform any others who are considering her as a psychiatrist that I had a positive experience that was critical to my overall well-being. We are total beings, and mental health is an indispensable component of total health. Psychiatrists in general are trained medical doctors, and Dr. Stacy Binns-Brown is one of the best. Do not suffer in silence because you are afraid to seek help.
