List of Kindred Hospital South Florida - Hollywood's Reviews
Not the prettiest hospital, but the quality of care is top notch
Nursing StaffWhile some of the nurses, CNAs and RTs that cared for my brother during his stay there appeared to be compassionate in our presence I had to constantly advocate and followup during my visits which was everyday. Upon my arrival, I would inquire about his status and how his day was and those questions seemed to annoy the nursing staff. I would walk in and his head was not elevated as he was trached, the SCDs stockings were not attached even though he was on blood thinners, when I queried the staff I was often addressed with an attitude. Physicians Dr Borrero was not at all helpful and or empathetic to my brother and/or our families concerns. His notes in the chart was inaccurate which we had to request be changed. He signed discharged orders to a SNF which was not conducive to the continued recovery of my brother.. Dr Borrero was called by me to address my concerns, and he didn't have the decency or courtesy to return my phone call instead he called the nurses station. The same applies to the neurologist Dr, Kaliro sp???never once did she reach out to us as family members to address my brother's status or progress neurologically. Her notes were also inaccurate that was requested to be changed as well..... not sure if it was....Keep in mind that inaccurate progress notes in a medical record could be a detriment to a patient's treatment course. The only physicians who expressed any level of care or empathy was Dr. Reinfeld the cardiologist as well as Dr. Cabreras' pulmonologist team and his PAs who on rounds made contact with us. Thanks to them for successfully weaning him off the tracheotomy. Case Management Horrible no knowledge no advocacy. The case management staff does not advocate for the best interest of patient when trying to locate placement best suited to address the health needs of the patient. AdministrationOverall, my encounters with administration to address some of the foregoing issues was received professionally. The bottomline is if unfortunately you or your loved one gets placed here please be sure that you stay vigilant and present. As it relates to some of these on staff physicians it's just a side hustle and a paycheck for them.
I can recommend this hospital for your love ones. The entire care team did a great job👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾.
The rehab and nursing staff were great! Thank you to Maria in OT and Lisa in PT!
Do NOT let your loved one stay here. It's dirty and antiquated. The staff on the long term care side are lazy and left my husband lying in his own feces for hours. They leave the meals on the cart in the hallway until they are ice cold. They over-medicate with drugs so they don't have to do anything (again, lazy). They will not put your loved one in accute rehab (PT and OT) until they have completely drained your insurance coverage for long-term care. Had I not been there, he would have undergone the WRONG procedure!!! Be prepared to get after these people all day, every day. Go downstairs to the administrative offices and complain. Refuse all anti-psychotic drugs and inhumane physical restraints. If you want a living nightmare...this is the place.
To every single one of you who cared for my father J.W during his stay at kindred Hollywood, I say thank you ! !! My father is Alive and doing excellent today only because of Kindred hospital Hollywood ❤.When the hospital in Margate left him to die exactly 1 year ago, Kindred took him in and worked on him for 2 full months to get him off the ventilator and eventually weaned out the PEG tube, healed his wounds and restored his physical strength.I had no idea what Kindred was like b4 then , so I was concerned and anxious at first but I got a huge and pleasant surprise when I first entered that hospital and met the staff and especially to witness the caring nature of the staff, very impressive!Working at Kindred is not for the faint at heart...its hard work. I sat at daddy's bedside every single day for hours all throughout his stay there and saw firsthand how hard the staff worked. They were really short staffed but did their best.I wish I could name all the staff who gave excellent care but it's too many so I will just say the CEO was exceptionally accommodating to our needs, Frank the RT boss is A1, icu nurses rock ! The wound care team, patient assistants, PT, housekeeping, OT, speech therapists and dietary department teams all did their best for my father. The food was nutritous and well prepared too.You are all angels on earth.❤I did employ private aides for my father to help the staff care for my father and it did help, so if families out there can afford it, please do, it makes a great difference .May God continue to bless you all as you do what you are called to do with purpose for the sick and helpless. 🙏
My husband came to Kindred in Hollywood after a long bout with Covid. He was admitted to the ICU. His first nurse, Luz, came in and told me not to worry. There main goal was to wean him off of his ventilator and some of the meds he was taking. The RT supervisor, Frank was on his “A” game. They had my husband weaned off his ventilator in just under 2 weeks. The nurses in the ICU took great care of him, even working under the stress of Covid every day. Luz, Mary, and Cathy were just a few of his nurses. Dr. English quickly weaned him off some of his meds and did a great job managing his care. The nursing supervisor, Donna always checked on us and took any concerns very seriously. After 6 weeks he was ready to transfer to an acute rehab facility to continue his therapy and work towards getting home. When he left he was even weaned off if all of his oxygen. Today, he has made a full recovery.
I feel compelled to write this Review to Kindred Hospital to express Learoy’s and my appreciation to the excellent medical team who had a hand in caring for him while at Kindred. When my husband, Learoy Morris, entered the hospital, his condition was grave. Neither the diagnosis nor the prognosis gave the untrained person, reason for optimism. Holding fast to my faith sustained me and gave me a glimmer of hope through the crack of every door. This was bolstered by the “can-do,” positive attitude and kindred spirits of his caregivers at Kindred Hospital. The doctors fought for him with vigor at every critical juncture. Dr. English, Dr. Bolten, Jim, The Psychologist (don’t remember his name), Frank Gomez and the Respiratory team, the ICU team, the Physical Therapy team, the Speech Therapists, Wound Care personnel, all the nurses and CNA’s provided a warm, caring and nurturing environment for him. Not to be left out is the liaison team of case workers – LaV in particular, who ensured his stay was smooth. When Learoy raised his fingers in response to my verbal command, their enthusiasm equaled mine. When he was able to use his voice for the first time, their voices rang out in praise and excitement, just as mine did. The team of physical therapists were tremendous in their care. The work ethic of Cathy/Andrea, Lisa, and their fledgling therapists in training was unparalleled.Everyone went above and beyond the call of duty for Learoy. Their warmth, love, and altruism permeated all aspects of his treatment. They never faltered in their enthusiasm and dedication to him.At times it felt as though he was the only patient at Kindred because of the meticulous, compassionate, and attentive care that he received.Kindred Hospital sure lived up to its mission statement which states that, “With our services, we provide a wide array of rehabilitation therapies to help patients progress to positive outcomes, regain function and safely return home as quickly as their recovery allows.Through the hard work and dedication of the Kindred medical staff, Learoy, progressed to positive outcomes, regained some functions, and from all indications, will retain all functions and will return home sooner than expected. As Learoy prepares to leave Kindred, it would be remiss of me not speak from the depth of my heart; and so, on behalf of my husband – Learoy and myself, I would like to extend our profound gratitude for all the work that you have put in on Learoy’s behalf. We are eternally grateful to Kindred and its caring staff with their kindred spirits.May the kindness that you have shown to Learoy and others, come back to you all, ten-fold. God’s continued blessings on Kindred Hospital.Averil & Learoy (Morris)
To the amazing team of Kindred Hospital Hollywood.Words could not express my appreciation for your wonderful, dedicated and professional work with my father, who was hospitalized at the ICU ward, February 2022, after having a cardiac arrest with devastating consequences.Being a physician myself, I inquired very thoroughly to which long term hospital I should transfer him to. After hearing about Kindred Hollywood, even though my father was not stabilized yet at the acute care hospital I insisted on him to be transferred to Kindred, a decision I believed saved his life!I would like to thank and praise all the team involved in saving my fathers life – physicians nursing, PT unit, wound care, nutritional support and administrative staff.I would recommend for all the hospitals in the US to send a representative to Kindred Hollywood to observe the extraordinary combination of kindness, devotion and professionalism that is the essence of this place and try to adopt it to their institution.Thank you very much,Ishay Benuri, MDPediatric Gastroenterologist
My sister was transferred to Kindred from Cleveland Clinic and we have mixed reviews of this Hospital. The case manager, Pauline has been available and informative. Ricardo Pol, the Director of Risk Management and Quality Control has been the only bright light of our experience. The family has shared staying with our sister daily and have seen all care givers every day for weeks. The nurses are rarely available, never informative and in a few cases rude and rough. Respiratory on several occasions put mask over her face and let 2 hours pass without coming back to remove. Had to track them down to come and take off. Unacceptable! Physical Therapist, Andrea was a blessing....compassionate, caring and patient. We never saw the physician, Dr. Molina the entire time and only spoke to him one time when Ricardo Pol got him to call us and let us know the status of her condition and game plan for going forward while at Kindred. There were few checks on her during the day to follow up on how meds were affecting her and found her many times lethargic or agitated depending on meds we assume but no one following up to seeing how she reacted to them. One day lunch was not even brought in that day but food seemed appealing for the most part. The personnel changing the sheets and cleaning up after they became wet never showed up to check unless you looked for them to come change her. So, these are all the things you don't know ahead of time and moving again becomes another challenge.
