My experience started well but after Dr Amer Shahla had an issue with United Healthcare everything changed. I have been seen by this doctor for a year and a half and while he is very knowledgeable his genuine concern for patients is clearly lacking. As stated above United Healthcare pulled a bs move and tried reduce the amount they pay this doctor by 25% (from Dr Shahla's mouth to my ears/ not hearsay) so he decided to stop taking their insurance which I completely understand, however when I said I was willing to pay cash for my visits so I don't have to switch doctors I was quoted $85 per visit to which I happily agreed. The problem started when I called and left a message for my prescription refill (they NEVER answer the phone) I left messages on Tuesday, Thursday 2x's, Friday 2x's, and it's currently Sunday and I've still not had my call returned but I did receive a certified letter yesterday saying they would no longer threat me and I need to find a new doctor. I'm a week behind on medication this doctor prescribed me... It's May and I was seen by him in March so it's not that I've not been seen recently or anything on my end. I will admit that on my messages on Friday, and after leaving unanswered message for four days I lost my cool and told them if I didn't a call back I would report them to the Florida Board of Medicine and The Florida Dept of Health, which I intend to do. I'm now going to begin a search for a new doctor and I intend to start with the reviews to see what experiences others have had and I recommend you do the same. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear of this provider unless you enjoy leaving unanswered voicemails and want to miss several days of you prescriptions while they play silly games with your health and well being.

I really liked Dr. Shahla, however his billing department is a mess. I tried calling numerous times to pay a bill - “mailbox” is always full. I sent a check. Today I learned that insurance also paid the balance; called the number listed on the statement for billing inquiries - “mailbox” is full. I guessed a few extensions - “mailbox” is full!! I sure wish I could speak with someone!
