List of Mayo Clinic's Reviews
I was so looking forward to Mayo to hopefully get some answers, whatever they may be. However, I was met with a doctor (Dr. Uitti) who was unfamiliar with my chart and seemed to make up his mind of his diagnosis before he even walked into the room. As soon as he heard I have anxiety, he said that was the cause of all my problems and I needed to see a psychiatrist. When we asked about my symptoms that in no way could be related to anxiety (extreme heat intolerance, frequent falls, etc.) and what would cause those he just shrugged his shoulders. He said he would refer me to endocrinology, which he never did. He couldn't wait to rush us out the door. He never asked any follow up questions about any of the problems I mentioned. He also said "if we do testing we are going to find something so I'm not going to do that." I have an abnormal brain MRI and he won't follow up to see if there have been any changes! At this point I feel like this is borderline malpractice. He does not belong in this renowned center. He is an arrogant gaslighting doctor and I would never suggest him to be seen by anyone I know. I left the appointment in tears because I was told my symptoms since 2017 are “all in my head.” He made me feel like I was a child being berated for wasting his time. The entire neurology department should be ashamed of his gaslighting behavior.
I was rushed here for emergency surgery. They said i didnt need it and theres nothing wrong but im still in alot of pain and im still here. They keep telling me its a migraine and its clearly not one (i had migraines since i was 8) I also think the dr spoke to me as if i were a child but i worked in Healthcare for 10 years. The nurses are great and the food is ok.
Best hospital for Oncology treatment in the area. Took a star off because they keep asking about our immigration status. I don't understand why since we have been patients before and our status as American born citizens hasn't changed. Looks like they are stereotyping do to last name.
My mother had surgery here. They took most excellent care of her! What a class act operation. Not 1 complaint. Thank you Mayo!
Double Dipping Billing Fraud! This Hospital will accept your insurance, then bill and get paid and turn around and Bill you personally for the same visit!! Of you do not comply and pay they send you to collections. My insorance pays 100% of ER visits and Mayo got paid then billed me for $2,100.00 MORE! This is fraud on its face. Of this happens to you file a formal complaint with the AGO (Attorney Generals Offoce) and The Governors Office. Maybe pf enough people file they can be brought before the courts for fraud. You will also sit in the waiting area if it’s empty or full for 6-7 hours for no apparent reason. If you have an emergency go anyplace but this hospital. There testing is also flawed you’ll never get accurate results from their labs.
UPdate July 2023. I have been going to the Mayo for 10 years with a severe and chronic vascular problem. I had to go the emergency room in April. I have been trying to get an appointment with hematology for months post emergency and NO one has the courtesy to answer my messages sent to the portal or even through the general line. Now, as a result, I am going to have to go back to emergecy because I'm being told they are not taking on any "new patients". If you haven't seen a hematologist in a year, you are considered a "New patient". I haven't HAD to see a hematologist over the past year. SO I asked the woman in hematology what I can do? I have an active acute issue and all she can say is, "I'm sorry". I'm flabergasted that I can't get help when I've been going to the MAYO for 10 YEARS. jUST RECENTLY IN THEIR EMERGENCY ROOM IN APRIL! I have an active situation that requires me to go to emergency again because I can't get help otherwise. So If you need a hematology appointment, forget about it. They said they are "closed to all new patients". This is the worst policy ever. Maybe they don't like the insurance I have? The "fellows" come and go and you'll never have the same one over a year. That's generally how long they are appointed. Be prepared to teach the "fellows". Any of the really great full time staff specialists last a few years then leave. They evidently have a shortage of specialists, always, in the vascular and hematology departments. Once they "assign" you a specialist, you never can get another. Even if it's clearly evident the specialist is sub-standard. The so-called "team approach" is nothing more than a marketing term. Like others, I have heard that the Mayo in Rochester is completely different and has a wonderful reputation. Jacksonville Mayo must be where the "C" team goes. The only thing that is above average is the Emergency Department and the IR department along with the nurses who carry this place. Although be prepared for a co-pay with insurance that is about 2X's more than any other ER. *****when evaluating reviews, notice how many 5 star come from google "local guides", who get "points" for reviews. Most have never even been to Mayo.
Dermatology is sorely lacking - it didn't used to be this way. They seem to rely more on patient's guiding them to moles than any professional opinions. I switched to a hometown doctor (not the PA they always stick me with) and have had much more professionalism and proactive guidance to prevent skin cancer which I have a strong familial history of. Endocrinology is a mess. I thoroughly appreciated my visits in 2021 and 2022 to get my thyroid nodules figured out. I called this year because I'm now pregnant and my thyroid numbers have dropped to hyperthyroid levels and my OB wants me checked out. They REFUSED to see me claiming they "don't diagnose thyroid issues". I told the lady I was an established patient - she hadn't even checked! Then she said it had been more than 3 years which I again corrected her. She relented and then said I'd have to call the doctor directly to get an appointment because a now fired employee put in my chart that I refused to be seen. What!? Why on earth would I ever do that? I'm done with Mayo. The Jacksonville location is NOT comparable to the other campuses throughout the nation. They are run of the mill at best and liars at worst.
This place only cares about money, not about you as a person and what you need .. I HATE this place
Compassionate care, careful diagnosis. Respectful, patient care.
Very caring, everyone really want the best for your healing.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
