MIchael Petr's Online Review Report Card

Just had Dr.Petr do a discectomy on my back today, about 6 hours post op. I can honestly say I’m throughly impressed with him and his surgical staff thus far. He is very thorough when he explains what he plans to do. Day of his staff was all super friendly I’m sure I will have aches in the coming days… but if I had to do it over I can honestly say I wouldn’t choose anybody else to trust. Thank you Dr.Petr and all of your staff.

This SURGEON SHOULD NOT BE ALOUD TO OPERATE ON ANYONE EVER!!!! HE IS INCOMPETENT AND IF YOU LET HIM OPERATE ON YOU, GOOD LUCK GETTING BETTER!!! (NO JOKE)

Dr Petr and his Team of Nurse Practitioners were great. However to even schedule the surgery the office demanded a payment of $2,000. We figured it would be applied through insurance and count towards the deductible. However that is not the case. The extortion of the $2,000 just to schedule the surgery is a fee not run through insurance and a hard cost to the patient. This was not disclosed well and when we repeatedly asked the office what it was for and why it didn't go through insurance we got no answers. No return phone calls. No reply to messages, Nothing. For such a great Team of surgeons and assistants to have achieved their level, only to have a front office, that must be condoned by the doctor, to be so deceptive and unresponsive is a shame. BE CAREFUL when working with this Team. They got paid handsomely by insurance plus a kick of $2000 for nothing.

Dr. Petr is a great surgeon. I had back surgery in March, and everything is going great. I can walk again. His staff is excellent, and he has a great team. I would highly recommend him.

Dr Petr is the most detailed doctor that I have ever encountered in my life. I have not yet had my surgery, but Dr. Petr spent 45 minutes explaining to me and my husband the details of my procedure. I felt empowered with the knowledge that he gave me about the condition of my spine and the solution to fix it through surgery. I was doubtful about going into surgery, but Dr Petr made me feel very comfortable.

Dr. Petr is this big deal neurosurgeon..He was SUPPOSED to make my husband's back better. Not so much..My husband has a very complex back..Previous surgeries with metal rids,bars & screws. Dr. Petr added additional screws without letting my husband know beforehand....Not an ounce of communication with the doctor...He came by one time to check on him while he was in the hospital. Because this was a VA referral, there are limits on everything & when the doctor's office failed to send in all the paperwork at the right time, Community Care stopped everything. It's a nightmare of mishandling of everything by all involved. My husband is now exponentially worse than he was before the surgery. He wasn't expecting miracles..He knows exactly what to expect with his back..However, Dr. Petr never went over any of this..I wouldn't ever recommend him for something so complex. He might be able to handle run of the mill things, but should have said there might not be a great outcome...We're hoping that one of the screws hasn't come loose. His primary care at the VA has scheduled an MRI just to make sure things are still in place. I'm furious...Such an uncaring physician...

Dr. Petr did spinal fusion at L3-L4. The results are amazing, as I was in excruciating pain prior to this surgery. He is a phenomenal surgeon as well as his ARNP Greg Norris. They all have treated me with kindness and professionalism. Thank you for all that you have done for me. I would very highly recommend Dr. Petr and staff!

I had disk replacement surgery in 2018 , I was in terrible pain for months and everyone at emergency room just gave me a shot and a prescription for pain pills . My primary ,Dr. Farhat put me in the hospital and he had a hard time getting anyone to do my surgery, They all turned me down, Dr. Petr hadn't been at Flagler Hospital very long I don't think, He came in explained everything clearly and I had surgery the next morning, Thank God for Dr. Petr, I haven't had any pain at all in almost 5 years. I am 10 days out from robotic back surgery performed by Dr Petr and his team member of 10 years “Greg”. Both worked 3 1/2 hours Robotically replacing my L5 section of lumbar spine. The Star Wars like operating robotic room cost $3 1/2 million dollars. Dr Petr is a conservative suregeon who had me go thru pain management first. Not having the desired effect then surgery was chosen. Prior to the surgery the doctor had computer models made of my spine. After surgery I was put on the 4th floor for three days to begin to recover under a controlled Hospital environment. A common side effect of lumbar surgery is severe leg spasms, thus controlled thru drugs by the nurses. Oh yes, this floor is affectionately called by the nurses the “Petr Wing”. It is common for Dr Petr (or staff), to be at your bedside when you wake up. The level of medical professionalism and surgical competence is nothing short of incredible……

Dr Petr did sciatic surgery on me October 5,2022. Highly recommended by previous doctor. He explained to me at my first appt what he would do. After 45 minutes I felt comfortable with him. I have been in pain for years and decided that I would have it done after talking with Dr. Petr. He really impressed me. Dr. Petr and his staff were very professional and courteous. They took very good care of me. The hospital staff was great. I appreciate everything they did for me and I am back to normal with no pain in my leg. Thanks so much Dr. Petr and your wonderful staff.
