Ackerman Cancer Center The staff here are very friendly and knowledgeable. They are a complete care facility including a dietician and social workers, and have 8 MDs and 2 FNP-BCs on staff. I have been treated here twice, 2004 for testicular cancer and just finished the program for prostate cancer. In addition, Dr. Ackerman has Ackerman Urology Center nearby (for both sexes) which is where I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I highly recommend both facilities.

Terrific Dr with a caring staff devoted to their patients care. Proton treatment does not destroy as much good tissue as conventional radiation. Medicare pays for proton treatment. Check your options before seeking treatment. Have a 2nd opinion at Ackerman before proceeding.

We feel very blessed to have been referred to Ackerman Cancer Center. From the very first phone call their attentiveness and concern for making us comfortable with the entire process was very evident. My wife called them on a Saturday afternoon not knowing if she would even be able to talk with anyone. Dr. Perkins answered the phone, listened to her describe what I was going through and told us to come in that Monday and gave her a time and told her we would be able to meet with their staff. Then, the very next morning – a Sunday morning – we got a call from them telling us exactly what would be happening on our visit the next day, who we would be able to meet with and made us feel so very comfortable. Over the next few weeks of receiving radiation treatments, always followed by time with the nurses and/or any one of the doctors or other staff we realized the attention we got on that initial phone call was just a glimpse of the attention, compassion and concern for our health and well-being that all of these wonderful doctors, nurses, technicians and office staff provide 100% of the time! All questions were answered to our satisfaction and the overall plan for working with my prostate cancer was always clear and understandable. Dr. Ackerman is very easy to talk with, as are each of the wonderful doctors we worked with. Each doctor shows great concern to make sure your questions are answered and that you are comfortable with the program and you never feel like you are ‘just another patient’. Everyone calls you by your name and makes you feel like they have been waiting just to see you that day. My experience with receiving radiation therapy was always enjoyable and great care was taken by staff to make me and my wife at ease. Everything is under one roof. No bouncing around from one place to another. I look forward to continuing my care program with Ackerman Cancer Center and cannot think of a more wonderful place to be when you have been diagnosed with cancer. I cannot say enough kind words about Dr Ackerman and his staff. They are very professional, comforting and compassionate. I appreciated the candid conversations we had about what was coming down the line in treatment and how they responded to the issues. It was not an easy road however, my family and I never felt like we were left alone.

The doctors, proton radiation technicians and other staff (dietician, social worker) work together to place one at ease, reassured treatment will work, is working, and competency and care prevail. I remember the first day we went to meet with Dr. Ackerman. And after the results, the tears began to fall down my face. Dr. Ackerman let us know, he was ready to put his boxing gloves on to help us win the match. I thank God for Dr. Ackerman, always having patience, he treated us as if we were his only patients. Ms. Katrina, Ms. Cathy, Cathy ,oh just thank everyone. Especially the young lady that makes the peanut butter cookies. Thank you Zoey for always knowing who One Diva is, and making me smile even on the worst days. Scot is a cancer wizard. He knows his patients better than any other doctor I know. Don’t waste your time with big hospitals that treat you like a faceless number. Go to a doctor you will have a personal relationship with. Dr. Ackerman is the best.

Very friendly staff, organized, and efficient. Would not hesitate to strongly recommend to family and friends. First rate medical treatment facility!
