My first visit with Dr. Afshari was the assuring that I needed. He's concern about the effect my breast issues had on me, with these passionate and caring words, he said..Don't worry, I'm going to take good care of you. His caring spirit is comforting. And he bring this same passionate and caring spirit to the OR. As I have said to him, you're My Best Breast Doctor. The staff also is always friendly and helpful.

Dr. Afshari has completed 14 skin cancer surgeries on my husband. We have stayed ahead of the dangerous skin cancer world. Each time Dr. Afshari held our hands and walked us though the healing and emotional trauma. Some spots were cancer and some right on the edge. No one would ever convince us there is a better Doctor on the planet. What he says, goes. If his words were money, you could literary take it to the bank. I personally had tumors on my thyroid and Doctors tried to convince me to have it removed. There is something odd about allowing a man to slit your throat. But Dr. Afshari convinced me that it was best to remove it before the tumors became a big problems. So surgery we went. Today if you looked at me you can’t even see the scar. He is a master surgeon. His skill level is beyond compare. And his wisdom and best side manor is fantastic. My whole family trust him, he has saved our lives more than once. We could never repay him for his kindness and professionalism.

It was October 2005, my daughter and I was standing in a hospital room waiting to find out the results of my father-in-laws exploratory surgery. My father-in-law has been in a lot of pain all year and his the doctors couldn’t determine the cause. Dr. Afshari walks in the room and tension was so thick in that room, waiting for news like this makes your skin crawl. Delivering bad news to a family must be the hardest thing for him, as his eyes never looked up. He explained that my father-in-law had cancer of the liver and pancreas. Okay, treatment opinions? There was none, Dr. Afshari lowered the hammer by saying he only had 60 days to live. At that point he looked up and his eyes met mine, and he said “How do I know you?” I explained that he had done skin cancer on my husband. He took my daughter and I into the hall and said he wanted to see all three of us in his office on Tuesday. Several Doctors walked into my father-in-laws room over the next few days, offering treatments of all sorts. Chemotherapy, radiation. But reliving Dr. Afshari words haunted me. Quality of life during these treatments would not be ideal. So we had to weigh which one is best for the patient and family. In his case nothing would have helped. We were at Dr. Afshari office on that Tuesday, where he examined each of us with a fine tooth comb. Dr. Afshari said we three were all clear. So now we had to focus our attention on my father-in-law. This family had never been thru what I knew was around the corner. It is never easy to except a terminal diagnosis but to be the one to take away a persons hope for recovery is hard. But with my family’s history and Dr. Afshari words I knew treatment wasn’t the answer so we called in hospice. Thank God for those wonderful people. They walked this family thru the most devastating time of their life’s. For my father-in-law death didn’t scare him, he was only upset that he were be leaving his bride of 56 years. Remember Dr. Afshari said 60 days, well he was pretty close, he lived 64 days. I believe that my father-in-law fought hard not to leave his bride but God had another plan. Being diagnosed with cancer is one of the scariest moments in someone’s life and staying grounded in facts can be extremely difficult with emotions battling to get in the way. I initially visited an “unnamed” cancer specialists with more than decades experience in prevention and cancer cure/ care. I thought I was in great hands. The course of treatment that was recommended to me was exactly what I thought I wanted to hear until I decided to get a second opinion from Dr Afshari who came highly recommended from another respected physician. After visiting with Dr Afshari, I was clear I found the right team with him and had to cut my ties with the other unnamed world renowned cancer treatment center. I was confident in my choice and could now embrace what lied before me. I had some concerns about where I would go for each aspect of treatment and was overwhelmed with it all. He helped me piece together a wonderful oncologist and made the magnitude of cancer much more manageable and simple, yet kept my life and the seriousness of the disease top of mind. I caught the other place in so many lies. Dr Afshari saved my life and has authentically made my life the priority of his treatment with me. He helped me with my cancer surgery, my port implant and explant. Scaring has been minimal and In the best places. I cannot recommend another surgeon more than Dr Afshari.
