My son and I have been home for a week after birth and a short stay in the NICU and I am still blown away by the care I received at Baptist South. I was in labor for a little over 2 days, and then stayed an additional 3 days for monitoring while my baby was in the NICU. I was treated by multiple nurses in this time and they were all astounding. Special thanks to Christine for getting me through a panic attack before my epidural, to Emily for being so thorough, timely, patient, and informative, and to Kailee and her partner nurse (I’m sor sorry I forgot the name) for getting me through pushing. All of the NICU nurses were also amazing in their care for my son and how much they taught me in my visits. Edith made sure to explain EVERYTHING and Mary handmade us a sign with my sons name and nursery theme. Thank you to everyone who got me through this beautiful moment. Mateo and I are so thankful! My doctor, Dr. Butterworth (from NF OB/GYN) was also phenomenal in his gentle and informative care. He made sure to include my fiancé in everything and ensure we understood the entire process.

Within the past two weeks both my parents, William and Margaret Hicks, died from Coronavirus. Thanks to all of the #HealthcareHeroes at Baptist South who cared for them in their final days. . Thanks to the entire Baptist South 8D nursing team, especially Brayden, who walked with me to see both my parents for the last time, Alex B. who was with me when my father died, and Christy who was with me when my mother joined him a few days later. The fact that they bravely put themselves and their families at risk each day to care for ours is testament to their selfless dedication.
