They don't want you to see your family members when they are sick. It is extremely difficult to get in the doors here to see sick family members which sucks but they blame it on covid! In the ER, only one visitor can see a patient per day, even if other visitors have to leave to go to work. If you do get in, you have to stay here or they will not let you back in, even if you were there earlier in the day. They have many entrances closed off, good luck finding your way around the many cones and roadblocks they have set up. What is the point of getting the vaccine if the doctors think it won't protect them from Covid?
HORRIBLE PLACE!!! Poor care, poor doctors. Even though it's close you will be there hours and hours. Please go somewhere if you need care. Don't go here.
I had to have a colostomy reversal and on the 2nd day, I went outside to smoke and didn't know that it would discharge me. I still needed hospital care so I came back thru the ER cause that is what they told me to do. When I was to the stage of being admitted to the hospital where they put you in a room while you wait for a hospital room. I was there from 2 pm and am still there at 10:20 pm. 4, yes 4 different medical staff told me they would get me something to eat and would return shortly. The last one that told me that was 3 hours ago. When I went out of the room and asked if there was a vending machine I could use a girl working behind a computer stood up and said if I even left the general area (even to get food from a vending machine since no one else would bring me anything), that she would call security. I am homeless right now because my husband who was a disabled Vet died 6 years ago and I can't afford to live by myself. I guess the staff at Baptist Medical get there kicks telling a homeless women they will get her something to eat but then not do it. 4 different people did that to me today. I only had one half of a sandwich at noon and was all I had in 2 days. If they weren't doing that to me just to pick on me then why? Cause I'm homeless so they think I'm trash and it's ok to make fun of me? That is exactly what they did. For what ever reason they did it, I'm still hungry and not ALLOWED to leave this room that im STILL in at 10:55pm still waiting for a hospital room. Yeah, right.
transported here via ambulance due to serious medical issue and almost collapsed. I begged the two evil doctors in white suits to provide me treatment, but they told the nurse to "monitor" me while I was in a critical condition without providing any interventions. Please noted that, I had insurance and paid thousands of dollars copay for this visit. In the morning, a Spanish doctor came in and saved my life by ordering stat on all treatments. After that, their emergency department sent my bill directly to the debt collector without any notifications. I spoke with the patient advocate. This woman is in fact a "staff advocate", not "patient advocate". All she did was making excuses and nothing done. I wrote a letter to Better Business, they were forced to removed bad debt imposed on my credit report, and I had to pay through the debt collector. I requested my medical record sent to me. In my medical record, the two so called "Drs" who committed grossed negligence, their names were nowhere to be found. But I was assigned to be under their "care" longer than any the Spanish doctor who saved my life last minutes spending only a few hours until I was discharged; somehow his name appeared throughout the record of my hospitalization. Why did they try to cover up from the "patient advocate" woman to the medical record? I hope that FL Health Department and Joint Commission would look into their practice here. I found that there was a law suit from one of their doctors about their bad and for profit practice on line, I read it, and I can confirm it was true based on my personal experience. I had private health insurance and I had to pay thousands of dollars of copay, I did not get free care from you, why did you treat your patient in such a terrible and evil ways! I recommend to avoid this place with all cost if I were non white patients because if I were assigned under these two white "doctors", I am not sure I would come out a live!!! What are wrong with these people? It is so scary and unbelieable that these wicked entities are in the business of "caring" for people 's health and deal with people's lives and deaths. This was a wicked and scary place.
After hitting 40 weeks pregnant, my doctor said it's time to get the Bebe out! So we scheduled it a little past 41 weeks at Baptist Downtown. I was a little nervous as a first time mom and not knowing what was going to happen or the process but the staff at Baptist made it very easy. I had an amazing nursing staff who helped me relax and made an otherwise stressful moment in my life, super fun (thanks Kristi!). I had to get a c section in the end and they were so accommodating, professional, gentle, and understanding. I was bummed about having major surgery but the staff here made it a bit easier with tips and tricks and helping me care for my newborn baby!
My mother was admitted with altered mental status last week and is unable to adequately advocate for herself, it was been a constant battle to get updates from Dr. Faldu, when we spoke he mentioned that he is overwhelmed to the pandemic. I'm a ER RN in Nyc and I'm aware of the complexities that this pandemic presents but at no point during this chaotic period have I ever been to busy to update families...for days! I've requested a call from risk management due to a pressure ulcer that developed during her inpatient stay, it been 4 days...no call. I've asked that the patient advocate call me, it's been 2 days...no call. I've requested a family meeting with the medical team and administration, its been 3 days...no call.Today after calling my mother's room for several hours and (the line was busy), so my sister and I called the nursing station to make sure she was okay and we were told by the charge RN Christina Washington "The nurse is packing her up to transfer her now, she'll call you back." I asked where my mother was being transferred (due to the line being busy for hours and the resistance to provide information I'm imagining the worst case scenario, Christina informed us "The nurse will let know." I asked her if at the very least she could tell us what floor, she refused. We attempted to call the house supervisor without success (not currently in the office). I'm writing this email not knowing what condition my mother is in, and why her transfer location is draped in secrecy. Has her condition deteriorated or worst? The lack of care and concern exhibited by the current charge nurse and Dr. Faldu is disheartening and unacceptable especially when we can't be by our mother's side to advocate for her. Covid has presented is with a slew of challenges, one should not be a lack of empathy, compassion, advocacy, and professionalism.

I could not move out of this town fast enough because next time if I need medical care and come here, I am not sure I will come out a live!!! What are wrong with these people? Is it ever ok to leave someone in the ER for over 12 hours waiting for a bed upstairs? Not watching them or giving them fluids. Not helping them to the restroom to where the person has to unhook themselves from all the equipment and hook themselves back up. This is a disgrace. I would give this facility a -1 if I could. Unreal and very sad.
My experience during my time there is noteworthy and want to express my appreciation to the following:1) Jennifer P the nurse assigned to me - her patient-centered approach was greatly appreciated and valued. Despite her shift coming to an end, she still treated me as if I was the most important patient she had rather than watching her time and placing shift-change over my care. She was most personable and approachable. Jennifer went above and beyond cleaning dried blood from a previous patient and the build-up of dust from a wet mop under the chair where housekeeping was missing. 2) Mike, Pharmacy Tech - He approached me to review my current medications (only two). Mike was thorough, professional, kind and maintained a great sense of humor. He made me feel at ease by his approach. 3) Christina, RN - She was the nurse who inserted an IV line and drew blood for testing. Her hands-on approach is something I cannot commend enough. Each step of the way, she explained what she was going to do before she did it and maintained outstanding bedside manner! She was creative in her selection of which vein to use and then explained why. 4) Jericak, NP - She conducted my initial assessment and I was most impressed with approach. Asking open-ended questions, not treating me as just a patient who was in the Emergency Room, rather she treated me as an individual. Jericak was most helpful explaining to the outcome of high blood pressure in such a way I was able to understand and not feel I was being talked down to as a non-medical professional. With regard to housekeeping, I have to say this was most disappointing. The restroom smelled of old dry urine and had fecal matter on the outside of the bowl, rim, seat and inside of the bowl. Once in the room (number 50), there were two areas on the floor where dry blood remained from a previous patient. Under the side chair was a large amount of dust that clumped together from a wet mop. It was very apparent that housekeeping never moved the chair, rather mopped around it. Prior to moving back to Jacksonville, I was the Administrator for an Acute Dialysis program and I paid special attention to the cleaning practices to ensure we minimize infections. More attention need to be put forth with housekeeping as it was severely lacking. Overall, minus housekeeping I was most impressed with the clinical staff. They are truly patient-centered and treat each person as an individual.
they have amazing staff and they listen and try to get what needs to be done
