Great bedside manner but an intimidator of the elderly.
I originally reported a strong review as an excellent hiatal hernia and toupet fundoplication surgery experience with Dr. Vaughan and Jupiter Medical Center staff. Update: 7/2023 I am now 2 years out from surgery and cannot recommend this procedure. I was diagnosed with post-surgery gastroparesis several months after and a loss of 13 lbs, that I have been unable to regain, despite eating 2,000 calories per day. I needed a G-poem procedure 9 months after the fundoplication because my stomach was not emptying as needed, and medications were not working. Even the top gastro doctor at Mayo has been unable to help me. Prior to the fundoplication surgery, I returned a second time to ask more pre-op questions about potential side effects/complications of the surgery. I was never told about gastroparesis. The surgeon who performed the subsequent G-poem procedure told me that he sees many patients like me, and that there is approximately a 25% rate of incidence of issues like gastroparesis, following fundoplication surgery. That info was never shared with me. Additionally, when I was told that patients can lose 10-15 lbs from the surgery. I said that I could not afford to lose 10 lbs, (my weight was 108 lbs) and was told that it was very unlikely because I was already thin, and mostly overweight patients lost the weight. My quality of life has been very poor for two years, living with pain, nausea, fatigue and discomfort, unable to participate in my usual sports and activities. The weight loss (still at 95 lbs) has left me more vulnerable to infections, which was what the fundoplication surgery was aimed at preventing. The GERD has also returned. The high percentage of potential complications/poor outcomes, plus the weight loss is something patients should be aware of when making a decision about choosing this surgery.
Great doctor. He has a caring and focused attitude about getting results that I have not seen with other doctors.
Dr. Vaughn operated on me everything went well!! He took great care of me.
We are new to the area and needed an appointment quickly. We were able to schedule and receive another referral quickly. The desk staff was very accomodating. Dr. Vaughn carefully evaluted my needs without rushing into a surgical decision, realizing more testing was needed. He provided the necessary referrals the same day. We felt confident in his expertise.
Dr. Vaughn was sincere, very clear in his explanation of my surgical need and most of all compassionate with the plan of care and timely follow through. Not knowing Dr. Vaughn previously as I winter here, I take great comfort in knowing he is here to take care of any future needs of my myself or my family.
A very thorough Doctor and very nice office staff
He was informative, kind and explained things clearly !!! Answered all questions and made us feel very comfortable about the surgery ahead!
Absolutely great ! I was so afraid of seeing a surgeon and also very confused about my condition and the surgery but was very surprised how comfortable I was listening to Dr Vaughan explaining in detail and calmly about my conditions and the procedure that I left his office with pure confidence and am scheduled for surgery in another week ! Thank you!
Dr Vaughn was really easy to talk to and explained everything clearly

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
