Jupiter Medical Center's Online Review Report Card

The Jupiter Medical Center Pavilion is a skilled nursing facility with a wing dedicated to Hospice Care which is what I will review here. The Pavilion also has wings for rehab and addiction recovery. It is located directly next door to the Jupiter Medical Center which is the name of Jupiters local hospital. The Pavilion is warm homey and welcoming. From the outside the building looks residential in nature surrounded by fenced shady grassy areas. The front entrance is flanked by a bougainvilleacovered patioterracefountain area to the left. A friendly receptionist staffs the front desk and waiting room area where coffee and a tray of cookies lives. Ive never been to a hospice facility before so I have little to compare it to but the entire space was very clean and every employee was patient and kind. At the time the building was decorated for Christmas including at least 3 decorated trees by the time I got to my fathers room in the hospice wing on the 2nd floor.Once admitted my father only woke a handful of times for a couple of minutes. He was kept comfortable in a hospital bed with 247 nursing care. I soon came to realize that his hospice room was as much for us his family as for him. My family members were able to gather in his room so comfortably it was decorated kind of like a hotel room with a sleeper chair a recliner a small dining table with chairs a minifridge and a television. Plus wifi. My friends and family wandered in and out over the course of 3 days and we joked and laughed and chatted alongside my fathers bed. Large windows flanked the room opposite the bed overlooking another courtyard and fountain area. The Pavilion provides several Family rooms for loved ones to gather grieve and otherwise utilize. Each one had a tv magazines and a minifridge. One Family Room had a land line and a restroom. Another Family Room around the corner had filtered ice filtered water and complimentary coffeeteahot chocolate.The Pavilion allows guests to come and go 247 by utilizing a passcode at night. We were encouraged to stay overnight or as long as wed prefer using their inroom ample shower and bathroom as needed.I could not just hang out in the room all day I had to walk around in order to process and think. I ventured down to the inner courtyard the bedrooms look onto and happily located the vending machines. I also spent time in a first floor Family Room which has a giant birdcage where my son and I watched finches and other small birds flit around chirp eat etc. Watching the birds felt therapeutic for me and provided some damn good live entertainment for my sonThe Pavilion has no food for family members so my niece and I both walked to the hospital to use their cafeteria rather than leave the property. Thanks to the Pavilion and Hospice of Palm Beach County for allowing my father to pass with dignity and for allowing my family to gather during a most difficult time.
