I was scheduled at 11:30 for cataract surgery today on my right eye. On our 11/2 hour drive to Key West, we got a call that surgery would be delayed until 1 pm. When we arrived, we talked with people who had been scheduled for 10 am who were still waiting. I said if I wasn’t in surgery by 1 I wanted a refund and would leave. 1 o’clock came and I left. I will not pay $5000 and be treated like cattle. I will go elsewhere.

Terrible experience. I was scheduled for cataract surgery at 11:30; rescheduled for 1 while I was on my way from Islamorada. Several others waiting that were 2-3 hours late. I should have known better after my office appointment. That waiting room was packed also and the office was poorly organized.

The Staff at this doctor's office's was inconsiderate after I arrived this morning. I went yesterday in the morning to make an appointment for today and the receptionist in the front desk told me there were no appointments until next month. And I came back in the pm and Monica, a great customer service, told me that there was an opening for today at 10:00 am. I arrived at 9:45 am and told the receptionist I was here for the 10:00 o clock appointment. After an hour waiting for my 10 o'clock appointment I asked the receptionist how long do I have to wait so she replied that because I came 15 minutes before the scheduled time I had to wait there indefinitely. I left after seeing more that 10 people passing in front of me, even when I had a 10 o'clock appointment. I have a serious problem in my eye and hope it doesn't get worst after the horrible negligence of the encounter with the receptionist.

Great staff . Friendly , comforting and knowledgeable! Monica got my husband right in and took great care of him . Doctor came right in. I’d recommend this office and will return .

Dr. Maurer could not have been more courteous, understanding and professional. I have lived here over 25 years and was told by many friends to use Dr. Maurer. The entire experiences at each office visit and surgeries were quite a surprise. What a great experience!

Originally dated 11 May, 2020 I can't say enough bad things. First they don't answer the phone. When they do and you can get in, there's 'attitude'. I had a stye. They gave me Keflex and drops, said to come back in 2 wks if it isn't better. Iphoned in 2 wks was told he refused to see anyone said call back in 2 more weeks. I phoned then a week ago. Gave me appt for today, 5/11. Phoned today to confirm since they hadn't. Told me appt isn't til 6/1. I told them appt was made on speaker phone and I have a witness. They had someone call me back. Then the truth was revealed. He didn't want to do a procedure today. I asked why I wasn't informed and they told me (get this) "You got lost in the sauce".They told me that it's not about me - it's about THEM. Most unprofessional people I've ever seen. THEN the same woman phoned on 28 May to confirm June 1 appt. I was shocked that they don't keep better records than that. Don't go there unless you enjoy abuse.

Really bad. First appt was just ok and told me to come back for a procedure on the then-style that was blocking my vision, after taking antibiotics and drops for a week. I took them with no improvement. Phoned back. No appointment available, she said, for a month-ish. So I made the appointment. IN the meantime the stye had become a chelazion. I phoned to confirm the 11 May appointment and was told there was none. They initially tried to make me out as a fool who doesn't understand a calendar. Then I said "I had you on speaker and I have a witness". Then the story changed. Told me that Dr. just didn't want to do procedures that day and had me moved to another date 3 wks further. I asked why no call to inform me and she told me (get this) "You must've gotten lost in the sauce". UNPROFESSIONAL. I blew up and told them I'd just go elsewhere since they aren't trustworthy. Then, on May 29, she phoned to confirm my appt for June 1. I told her I don't have an appointment and was shocked she had the nerve to call me again. She got snippy and hung up. DON'T GO THERE. They don't care about you, only the money.

We are snowbirds who like spending our winters in Key West. Dr Maurer saw me on an emergency basis and I am so appreciative! I recently had cataract surgery at home in Missouri and was having a complication. Dr. Maurer did a thorough exam and explained to me the complication. I will follow up with him in 3 weeks for a progress check.
