My insurance provider referred me to Dr. Thalmon for an evaluation because I have cloudy vision in my left eye, and they told me he speaks Portuguese. Just now, after waiting nearly 40 minutes on the line, the receptionist tried to play doctor and said she wouldn't schedule my appointment because I needed to see a general ophthalmologist instead; when I asked for her name, she simply hung up on me. Terrible service—is she the receptionist or the specialist?
Cannot really give a fair rating as each time there had insurance issues, though given appt. Interaction with front desk staff not very good.
Providers and office staff services were excellent and very thorough and friendly
All i can say excellent work
We had an appointment at 8 am. When we asked a staff member why is the doctor running behind we were told he is on his way. We were there 1.5 hours before he arrived. He (nor his staff) offered an apology or explanation for his tardiness. He wanted to fist bump and apparently he does this with all his patients but it isn’t appropriate for a 96 yr old woman to fist bump. He finally got the hint. We will no it return. In addition, he broke a blood vessel in mom’s eye.
Great!
You would think that being told “your treatment is to shove 3 needles in your eyeball!” would immediately cause you to run out the door. However, Dr. Leon was so confident and secure in what he was saying and about to do that at no point did I feel scared about what was about to go down. The procedure took less than 3 seconds and it destroyed my eyeball for a few days after but it was necessary. Going back in 3 weeks for a follow up and I’ll update.
Sudden onset of retinal detachment— worst medical experience of my life. Dr Houston treated me the same day and saved my vision. I will be eternally grateful for his professionalism and expertise.
Friendly staff and everyone was very thorough during the execution of the tests and they ran all the necessary tests to see my eye issue in detail. Dr Turski explained everything in terms that I understood and informed me of all options available in relation to treatment. I was seen at short notice and I did not wait long before I was seen. The place is very clean and effective greeted me with a smile and enthusiasm
This was one of the worst medical experiences we’ve had. We spent almost 4 hours at Florida Retina Institute, yet the doctor spent less than 10 minutes with us. He barely looked at my son, did not explain much, and overall gave the impression that he didn’t care. After such a long wait, to be treated like an afterthought was incredibly frustrating and disheartening. We’ve since moved to another retina specialist, and the difference in care and compassion has been night and day.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
