Google ‘Free Kill law Florida’ and ‘NBC News HCA Healthcare’ to better understand the broader concerns surrounding accountability and patient safety.... My barely 25‑year‑old daughter, Taylor, died after confirmed reckless medical negligence and neglect at HCA Florida Osceola Hospital following a rear‑end collision at a red light. Taylor was misdiagnosed with a severe traumatic brain injury, a condition for which the recognized standard of care is prompt neurosurgical evaluation and timely operative management. Despite this, the on‑call neurosurgeon, Gustavo Arriola, failed to provide the required critical care consultation within 30 minutes of being contacted and did not appear for nearly seven hours after the initial neurosurgical consult request. During this delay, Taylor’s documented internal bleeding went untreated, even after imaging confirmed active bleeding and blood filling her abdominal cavity. Despite clear signs that my daughter was bleeding internally, basic troubleshooting and testing were delayed for about eight hours. When they finally ordered imaging that confirmed internal bleeding, surgery to stop it did not take place for roughly seven more hours. During this time, the trauma surgeon, Dr. Daniel Felling, was told that her central line was not properly placed but never corrected it, even though the radiologist recommended repositioning it. He then ran a massive blood transfusion using an improper ratio of blood products, which made her condition worse and contributed to her death. A private autopsy I paid for forced the medical examiner to revise Taylor’s cause of death, after the hospital initially submitted the non‑existent brain injury as the cause even though a second set of imaging showed that brain injury did not exist. When I sought accountability, I learned about Florida’s “Free Kill” law, which strategically blocks many families from legal recourse when an unmarried adult child over 25 dies from medical negligence. I also discovered that prior malpractice claims/settlements involving the neurosurgeon and trauma surgeon were not easily visible to the public and required searching state insurance records to uncover. No family should ever have to experience this. Please research facilities carefully, ask questions, obtain your records, and consider a private autopsy when you lose a loved one in a hospital. And please consider following Healthcare Accountability Initiative to learn how you can use your voice to help ensure that safety and accountability in healthcare are placed above profits. — Cindy Jenkins Founder, Healthcare Accountability Initiative Join the Movement: @healthcareaccountability.org

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I highly recommend Dr. Bregy and his staff to anyone in need of top-quality neurosurgical care.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
