Went there five times about being itchy and I think that I contacted scabies but I didn't have any rashes they didn't bother to do a scraping to rule out scabies they told me to change my laundry detergent and soap that I could have sensitive skin then my insurance changed and I had to find another doctor but anyways I do have scabies so I suffered for months being itchy. They should listen to the patients more and they need to learn more about scabies that not everyone has tracts or have rashes and some people are just carriers.
The best caring professional doctor I have ever had. I've been his patient for well over 25 years and I am still pleased. He stays on top of preventative patient care.
Very upset with this office! I went today for my annual appointment to be told “your appointment was canceled.” Receptionist said “they called you 3 times to let you know.” I replied “No, I have had no messages from this Clinic.” The receptionist verified the phone number then asked “is your voicemail full?” No, my voicemail is not full and I got NO voicemail from this clinic. I missed 5 hours of work and had nothing to eat for over 14 hours (for labs) for NOTHING.
It was more than a disappointing experience by trying to get established at this office. This medical practice uses antiquated methods which makes it run ineffeciently. They move patients from the lobby to another waiting lobby in the back. The office staff and lab techs are inconsiderate with awful customer service skills. They are more concerned about what they are ordering for breakfast and what's being catered for lunch rather than concern for the patient right in front of them. Excessive wait times for the simplest things like checking out with the rudest clerk I have ever encountered.
I wouldn't send my dog here. I had referred my family to them years ago and I am still embarrassed to this day. Dr. Strauss tries to be thorough, but his staff has NO clue and doesn't care either. Surprised they aren't overrun with law suits.
Where to begin...understaffed is the first problem. 8-10 staff members including maybe five nurses and 4 front desk staff, and they have hundreds of patients. They are also not very punctual about returning phone calls when you leave a message on their "nursing line". The DR and ARNP spends the majority of your appointment rifling through papers and taking notes instead of answering your questions and addressing your concerns. They also answer the phone for much of that time as well, which is extremely rude. Your appointment is supposed to be for YOU, not answering questions about other patients. In my opinion, the only positive aspect of their practice is the fact that they are able to draw blood on site so that you don't have to go to an outside lab, although they do send their samples to an outside lab. Southern Internal Medicine is also very slow about obtaining results of testing and procedures such as xrays, CTs, etc. as well as releasing those results to other physicians.
Will never go back to this office. Was told by the receptionist several times that I would not have a copay. I asked her several times what my copay would be and she repeatedly told me that they couldn’t give me a price because they weren’t sure what all the doctor would have to do. I told her if I was going to get an expensive bill in the mail that I didn’t want to proceed with the appointment. She informed me at that point that there was no copay and that I “wouldn’t have to sell the farm” to pay for it. A month later I get a bill in the mail for $200 even though I was only there for less than 30 minutes and the doctor did nothing for me.
Unprofessional and arrogant! Doesn’t listen to patients complaints. Speaks rude to his staff, patients and patients families. Must have finished last in medical school.
They take great care of my mother! She has been seeing Dr.Strauss for years. He is very thorough as are the other practitioners in his office. He really cares about his patients & wants to keep them as healthy as possible.
Updated: I went to Dr. Strauss after hearing many wonderful reports by family. That all faded away not long after getting acquainted and looking at my medications. Finding I had no ability to participate in my own care. At any point of disagreement you are wrong, even if you are right. I was lied to about medication being prescribed and scolded for daring to question the doctors or medications. The worst was to propagate the lie I was now going to be treated for a condition I do not have! All so the doctor did not admit to a lie. The lie was about the medication prescribed as being a diorytic (water pill) to help with excess swelling. The medication was for high blood pressure, not swelling. It could possibly help with swelling as a possible side effect. The swelling turned out to be self-inflected, I was simply drinking too much water, more than my body could process. A habit from working many years in the heat outdoors sweating profusely from morning till dark often. Not adjusting my intake after no longer working outdoors in the heat. Not forgetting, I was told I have high blood pressure, a heart murmur and symptoms of heart disease. Non of which are true. I do have Sarcoidosis on my liver, and told them about. However after a CT scan and since Sarcoidosis is not well known I was not believed and accused of being an alcoholic. (I do not drink except on a holiday or very special occasions) However that was the beginning of the end. I was already checking with other doctors to verify the diagnosis given. My oncologist, former primary care and pain management doctors all checked the diagnosis and findings. Not one would agree to the new findings and agreed that I should be treated for the new diagnosis. Since there was no findings to support treatment. When you become a patient there is an agreement you must sign saying you will accept arbitration in the event of any problems or issues, agreeing not to seek legal council. Don't sign, you do not become a patient. So you have no recourse in the event of such issues. You are simply discharged, not to return. This is what happened to my mother when being prescribed a medication she had reactions to that are not worth the benefit. I just left, knowing there would be no use fighting my doctor when they are willing to lie and create medical issues for pride, ego or whatever motivates one to do such. ☆I must say the ladies in the office and nurses are top notch, friendly, kind and well trained. **Update 01/28/20 The nurses who took care of my in-take, vitals, refills, ect most all the work were and are some of the nicest, kind, friendly, professional and through of any out there. They are the reason I stayed as long as I did. I was forced to leave once steps were taken by the doctors to treat me for heart disease and a sudden murmur *other doctors could not find.* Attempting to treat me for high blood pressure (which I do not have, nor ever had) and sudden onset heart disease. After going to other doctors attempting to validated the findings *not one* could find any issues with my blood pressure or heart and no murmur. Presenting the medications to each, not one said I should be taking them, and doing so would have caused me other issues from the side effects. Not to forget the strain the medications would have put on my heart. In effect giving me more of a problem than diagnosed with and most likely inviting damage that would be irreversible, and I am not yet even 50yrs old. PLEASE, Please read all the papers you are signing when you become a patient of Dr. Strauss. You are giving up your rights to take legal action if you have a problem, are treated wrongly, unfair, find malpractice or incompetence you have no recourse. You signed a waiver of your rights. I've said all I can in hope of warning others.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
