Had a great 1st visit. He disagreed with MRI and said I did have vs not having and then got an injection that was AWESOME! I did not feel burning from numbing medication or the pressure as you would typically from the contrast or steroid. He talked to me during the procedure because he knows about my anxiety. Ready for my next injection. I highly recommend him. Scheduling was a bit of a mess. They had my phone number wrong and i went without medication longer than needed, BUT I was ok because I was not in as much pain at the time and things happen. The people are nice, so that made up for it. :)

I was shot up with so many steroids in a 2 month period I got cushing's syndrome went from 114lbs to 155lbs in a month. I cannot receive steroid injections anymore, I had to see a cardiologist due to the pumping me with steroids and it did absolutely nothing. Nerve burn nothing. I had to stop going because of weight gain, heart problems, and spinel headaches. I don't know if he's in BG anymore but I wasted 5 months, and was sooo sick. No pain medication was given at the time either. Just shots, every 2 weeks 6 down each side. Awful

Have been seeing Dr. Akbary for a few months and have nothing but great things to say about him. He is attentive and great when explaining alternative treatment options. Would definitely recommend.

All the pain management places have a bad name for one reason or another. This North Florida Jacksonville Spine & pain management I went to once and met "Dr. C." who left me with great hope of no pain from my mid-back down through my thigh. But When I returned, "Dr. C" was no longer there. Dr. Akbary was there even though he had other appointments; Dr. Akbary reached out to help me, not leaving me in pain. Dr. Akbary listened, reviewed files, had his own X-rays and scans to complete his overall view, and then started my path of painless freedom. With the Shots, the meds, the emphasis on certain stretches and exercises, one becomes more complete or closer to restored. Dare I say Dr. Akbary's staff are compassionate and considerate.

If I could give zero stars I would. Sexually inappropriate. Rude. Doesn't listen to concerns. Misdiagnosed me. kept giving me back injections. I needed a hip replacement. AVOID.

My first visit I waiting in the examination room after vital signs were check by the nurse, about one entire hour. That is unacceptable. Now let's go to second visit a follow visit, the doctor showed up within a reasonable time after being check by the nurse, but he stayed with me less than one minute. He did explain the MRI he has ordered. He is a pain management doctor, but he did not asked me how my pain has evolved, he did not read the nurse notes in which I just have said I had no pain. He proposed an epidural injection in the lower back for pain management. Of course I did not go that course. But the point is this doctor is out of touch with patients and with reality. In addition to Dr. Ackvary's problems, the office staff demands payment in front and they has erred both times, first and second visit on the charges for copays. The office did not follow through on lower back brace that I must buy from them because it was not available anywhere else; I had to do without it.Stayawa

After being bumped from one appointment and outright cancelled from a second appointment he refused to refill high blood pressure meds without being seen.

Very thorough and down to earth. Found the cause of my pain and now I am able to function daily. Staff very friendly and cheerful!

I was a patient of dr. akbary for 6 yrs. I recently moved to north Carolina and if I could I would fly back to ohio to be treated by him. please if you need a pain management doctor he is the best. he found I needed neck surgery and it was the best thing I did. he is caring and knows what hes doing he is the only person I have missed since I've been here. even with duke being her dr akbary is the best after many years of suffering. debi catley
