You read these reviews and wonder if they're legit. Mine is real. For 15yrs my disease progressed and I did everything I could to self-manage: massage/stretching, yoga(hot), acupressure, muscle stim, acupuncture, traction, oral steroids and finally epidurals. When I finally accepted that I was 'broken' and needed to consider the next step my (surgical veterinarian) wife and I interviewed five spine surgeons and fell in love/respect with Dr. C. At our initial consultation he gave us 1.5hrs of his time to review everything I'd done and his current state and future assessment of my condition. Dr. C traded surgical perspectives with my wife and was open to chatting about every option...we settled on the most aggressive: I'm mid-50's, in great health with no (other) pre-existing conditions. With that I was in surgery one week later for cervical and four months later for lumbar. NOTE: less than one year later I hiked into, around and out of the Grand Canyon. All thanks to Dr. C. Legit!!!

I passed out on 3/18 and went into Palms west and the CAT scan I was told is normal. On 3/25 I went back into Palm West for headaches and again I was told the CAT scan was normal , than the ER doctor Madziwa suggested an MRI( she saved my life!!) This is when I met Dr. Chaparro who told me that when I was at Palms West back in 9/2020 there was a tumor on the CAT scan and it was missed and in fact it was missed on my 3/18 and 3/25 visit !!! How ridiculous was that !!!! 3 CAT scans only to find out that Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles could have easily seen my tumor which was the size of a walnut!!!! This also ruined my eye vision and gave me diabetes insipidus!!!! Needless to say a month later I am tumor free to an amazing Surgeon Dr. Chaparro! The nurses @ Palms west are absolutely rude to talk poorly about Dr. Chaparro calling him a cutter and makes a lot of money for the hospital - so all the nurses and doctors should listen to him .this is totally false ! He is a great surge

I went to Doctor Mike for complications for Chiari Malformation. He patiently listened to all my questions, even those taken from a book I read on the subject that escalated all my fears. He could not have explained the surgery I needed better, and my fears were gone. The best news is that he cured me and I have no remaining pain or problems. In fact, it was his understanding of my situation, prompt attention to my care, and excellent surgical procedures that led to this cure. His follow up care could not be better as he takes all the time I need to understand exactly what took place in the surgery, and how much better everything works now, as a result! He also discovered an other underlying condition (non-related) that he is closely monitoring. I trusted this man with my life, my quality of life, and I would do it again - and probably will. He is as caring and personable, as he is excellent and skilled.

I'm going to let this account of my experience during my recent check up serve as my review. It's a bit personal, but I want to frame this in a way that allows any potential patients to relate on a human level. I was following up with my neurosurgeon - who is affiliated with Palms West - out in Royal Palm Beach yesterday. It was a final check up after being under his care for almost a year following a spinal injury at work that required surgery. One of his staff took my vitals and when they did my blood pressure reading, the numbers were 161/121. The lady taking the vitals actually told me that was alright. No it isn't. That's hypertension. I walked out of the waiting room and expressed my concern that they weren't acknowledging the high blood pressure and they agreed to retake it. The second reading was 161/117... still hypertension. My complaint is that they blew off this reading. While I understand this is a neurosurgeon and not a cardiovascular specialist, it's still a licensed medical practice and I'm alarmed that staff took my blood pressure, saw a reading that clearly placed me in the range of hypertension and didn't see a need to address it, forcing me to pursue the point. I'm wondering how many patients with no knowledge of blood pressure readings have left that office with similar results, assuming their bp was fine because his staff said nothing. I plan on seeing a primary care physician, but this seems negligent and irresponsible to me. Even a layperson can tell that's not a healthy blood pressure and I would expect to at least have his staff address it. As a surgeon, the care was excellent. But this was an alarming development.

Dr. Ordered MRIs of my spine. His review indicated I needed serious full lumbar fusion but “because you’ll be prone for 10-14 hours” insisted on doing a fusion of my cervical spine first. When I indicated I wanted a 2nd opinion he then sent me certified mail indicating I wasn’t following his advice “and he can’t be responsible for what happens next.” He freaked me out. 4 medical opinions later all doctors said he was “crazy” and given my Multifidus Atrophy I needed a muscle stimulator implant. One doctor was so adamant against fusions he insisted I come back to see him if I ever chose that course “so he could talk me out of it.” Chaparro is a cutter. I warn you.

Dr. Chaparro is awful, unprofession and arrogant. He has terrible bed side manner. Do not waste your time seeing him.

He is the most unprofessional doctor my family has ever dealt with. My mom went into the hospital with dizziness, and he told her she had terminal cancer way before he ever even ran more tests. We tried to get a second opinion while she was at the hospital and when he saw me with the other neurologist he yelled at her in the hallway, exclaiming my mom's name and diagnosis, a clear violation of HIPAA. Then he came into her room on Sunday (in shorts) and confronted her about talking to another doctor. His exact words were "you don't see another doctor, or you'll have no doctors!" Threatening to withhold care is a violation of his Hippocratic oath as a physician. He gave her partial results of her spinal tap, while there was a non-family member in the room, without asking permission to speak freely, and told her that the elevated protein supported the diagnosis of carcinomatosis (terminal cancer). Then after days of waiting for results (which were available for almost 48 hours in her patient portal - he was just too busy to update us) he finally told her she didn't have cancer at all, and that it must be an anomaly related to the Covid vaccine. But he said that his mentality is to follow "dying, dying, discharge" essentially that it's better to tell a patient they're dying, then send them home healthy, because that's better than telling them they're healthy and then letting them die... We think they're both pretty poor methods! All I can say is that my family was traumatized by this and absolutely devasted thinking we were going to lose our mom. Everyone who overheard were all apologetic for his unprofessionalism. The last thing he made sure to tell us before discharge is how unknowledgeable the other neurologist was, saying things just to discredit her. However, she was such an incredible ray of light during the hospital stay. I don't know where we'd be without her if we only spoke to Chaparro, aka Dr. Doom or Dr. Death!

I was visiting a friend in the hospital when this doctor came in to reiterate her cancer diagnosis and pointed his finger at her telling her not to consult any other doctors or she would end up with no doctor!!!! By the way, he never asked her if it was ok to speak in front of me as I wasn’t family. ALSO, turns out she did not have cancer of any sort….confirmed by multiple doctors (and lab results).

Dr chaparro is the best pituitary tumor surgeon in west palm beach he is honest kind and trustworthy whenever you enter in his office he gives you all the time you need he explained everything he always he gives you is best with a bright smile we love you dr Michael may GOD continue to bless you one love
