David Weiser's Online Review Report Card

I had been a patient of Dr. Weiser in the past. I heard about clear lens replacement and scheduled a consult with Dr. Weiser. In short, I had the procedures and was amazed at both the ease of the procedure and the recovery. The difference in my vision is truly remarkable.

Took my 78 year old mother for an eye exam for cataract surgery assessment. Dr. Weiser could not have been more rude to her. He cut her off when she was trying to express an issue she was having (he didn’t feel it worthy of acknowledging). He walked out of the room and left while she was telling him of a worry she had about the surgery…….. he left 😳 My mother was not being rude or going on and on, she was very nervous and not processing as quickly as he’d like. She has had a lot of trauma in the past year and is doing her best. The tiniest bit of kindness towards her would have been appreciated. I am disgusted in myself for not speaking up on her behalf I was just so shocked and I didn’t want to upset her further. She is keeping him as her doctor because she was told he is a good surgeon. Does all bedside manner have to be thrown by the wayside because you are a good surgeon? I’m just looking for my mother to be treated like human being….to much to ask? We had no complaints that we waited a long time or even that he was clearly in a hurry, just needed a little kindness.

Don not use this guy for cataract removal, especially if you have had LASIK. He does not know what he is doing. He removed cataracts on my right eye, and did not size the lens (IOL) properly. He mentioned it also happened to another patient. His only comment after examining my eye was 'That didn't turn out as planned'. His solution was to use reading glasses for eye he operated on. I did not need glasses prior to his surgery. My eye will never be the same. I have floaters, and even with reading glasses don't see properly.

Do not use this guy for cataract removal if you have had Lasik. You will not be pleased with the outcome. The cataracts are gone, but my vision is far worse than before, I have lots of floaters, and now I need glasses. Thank goodness he only operated on one of my eyes. Hisb only comment was 'this was not the desired outcome...' Definitely NOT the guy for cataracts.

If I could give him less than 1, I would. Do not use Dr. Weiser for cataract surgery, especially if you've had LASIK surgery. He does not know how to adjust his surgery for someone with LASIK.

I have always had an excellent experience with Dr. Weiser and also the medical staff at the Viera location. Waiting room wait time not unusually long. He performed both my cataract lens replacement surgeries with outstanding success. He chairside manner is respectful and professional.

He is a caring, compassionate and very knowledgeable physician. He saved my eye sight.

unattentive, mass production doctor. Went for simple laser treatment 3 years ago and his careless treatment burnt my retina creating double vision. Made excuses then sent me to Dr Vrinda Hershberger. Hershberger detached my retina "by mistake" . Needed further treatment to re attach. Luckily done by another Dr. My opinion is both should be fired for complete incompetence.

Dr. Weiser as an ophthalmologist is very well educated, smart, intelligent, bedside manner is great. He is a kind man who took his time examining my eyes, didn't rush whatsoever, and very importantly is a kind, caring doctor. When I first met him years ago my eyes had almost dried up with the Florida allergies. I had seen my FL Associates eye doctor who left the matter as, I followed protocol (end of story). I made another appointment to see my doctor but was told he was out on paternal leave and Dr. Weiser said I need some inserts called punctal plugs in my eyes to help retain moisture. Especially not being my own doctor of record there, stayed until about 6:15 on his own family time, probably delaying his dinner trying to get the punctal plugs into my delicate, sore eyes and did so successfully. When I asked if I could be his patient, changing from my doctor, he said it was against their policy to change doctors (almost like "poaching patients" except I was the one asking, not vice versa. So I began googling and found a doctor who did an even greater amount of work with dry eyes. He taught me how to fix the problem and I remained his patient for 2 years getting this problem completely fixed. Then when he said it was time to remove my cataracts, I was in intensive care in the hospital and yet called to cancel the procedure which by this time was set up for measuring the eyeballs with the nurses at another facility. 2 days later they called and I was still in intensive care and I was angered by their insensitivity to me being in intensive care. When I went back to this doctor for a follow up about my dry eyes which had begun again I told him the doctor who removed my cataracts only did surgery not ophthalmology care in general. I told him he had lost the surgeries to another eye surgeon because of the insensitivity of his nurses calling me back 2 days later fighting for my life in intensive care. He was somewhat annoyed (I couldn't tell if it was at his nurses or at me for going elsewhere) but he said sometimes messages don't get written for everyone on the staff to be aware of. Now I was looking for an ophthalmologist, hoping FL Eye Associates would now allow me to become his patient without any hassle because I had left the practice for 2 years and was now coming back only if he could be my doctor. He is now officially my ophthalmologist, and I am happy. Only negative is that it was about a 2 hour wait to see him, as someone else talked about. I just budget that time into my appointment because exceptional doctors to me are worth waiting for and fortunately my working days are long gone and I can make the time to see the doctor of my choice. I gave ease of scheduling only a 4 because originally they gave me a 5-6 wait to put me on his schedule but said to call back periodically to see if he had a cancellation. They had one last week about 4 weeks approx ahead of planned appointment so that is the only reason I didn't give a 5 star rating to this category.

I could not see him. Doctor Weiser and the Viera Office Manager have a disconnect. (See Office Staff Review). The wait time in waiting room was 1 hour. I emailed office staff after I had to wait beyond my schedule permitted and left. Brigette Gifford replied they would inform Dr. Weiser about the front desk problem, but NO follow-up. The front desk keeps their heads in their computer monitors; no eye contact when you sign in. This review covers his lack of management skills, not medical.
