Very thorough dr. Explains everything in detail in layman's terms. Approachable, great bedside manner, caring.

He is a wonderful doctor with a great personality. Very easy to talk with and kniws what he's doing. He saved my life with a pacer insertion.

I started experiencing symptoms of a heart attack while visiting friends in the area. I went to the emergency room and while they were determined I had a blood clot - which I didn't, they told me to see a cardiologist in their affiliated group while I was here as a follow up. I called my insurance and they said I could so the doctor I could see soonest in their circle of doctors was a Dr. Thomas Swain. I must say I didn't like the open clinics layout mainly because too many people were walking around with their mask under their nose or chin or not wearing one at all. It felt like a bus station or terminal and I did not feel comfortable at all. The receptionist was nice enough when she was able to get off the phone for a half a minute but I still felt like I was bothering them to be there. I checked in, did everything I needed to do filled out all the paperwork which by the way is not available online so don't bother looking, waited 45 minutes and was called back to see the doctor. He came in carrying a IBM laptop, spent all of his time typing and hardly spoke to me. He didn't really check me out but decided I needed all these very expensive test that my insurance didn't cover. He didn't look at my family history which I provided to them hours before, he didn't listen to me and when I asked him a question, if he answered at all it was nothing to do with my symptoms or a shrug of his shoulders - all while he was looking at his computer and typing. I work with computers, I get it but my job doesn't require a bedside manner nor does anyone's life depend on my answers in a face to face. I am freaking out because I have these symptoms that have not abated and he's more interested in typing and not listening to me. It was a total waste of time and money and I'm still experiencing chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness. He was determined that I must have Covid or have had it - I had the PCR and antibodies tests after I left his office; I'm negative and it shows that the vaccine is still working. So that's not what is wrong but if it is then you couldn't tell by the help I received. I contacted my primary care who is a pulmonologist and his partner is a cardiologist. I will make the harrowing drive back to my home to see my doctor and all with the constant fear looming over me that I could have a heart attack while I'm driving and not only die but kill innocent people because apparently healthcare in this office and this medical group is nonexistent. I was thinking about moving up here but this is definitely a major ding in that decision. I don't want to move anywhere with the healthcare at a veterinary clinic is better than in a doctors office.

Around June 2019 Dr Swain misdiagnosed my condition. He said my wires were bad on my defibrillator and while trying to insert a third wire in the vein he punctured my lung and nicked my artery. Thank God he didn't do the procedure. I went to a specialist who said there was nothing wrong withy wires. I was in intensive care in very bad shape after Dr Swain was done w me. Current April 2021. He happened to be on call cardiologist during my short tune up hospital stay. He said he didn't know me! I reminded him of what he did and still I don't know you. He was dismissive and said no when I wanted ask one last question. Then he turned around and said ok but make it quick. How Terrible.

EXCELLENT! Saved my Life when I was someone ELSES's patient stayed with me from 4 :45 pm to - 3:00 am in ICU fighting to stabilize me, For those that criticize...OMG did you ever stop to consider that they had TRUE EMERGENCIES? He was Never short with me or my Proxies, In fact just the Opposite! 5 Star all the way, Thank God and Thank Dr. Swain for walking down the hall when I needed HIM!

Failed a stress test this week, badly. Nurses ran to get a cardiologist and Dr. Swain responded. Long story short, he went over the results, then had me wait less than 30 minutes to see him again in his office. He arranged for a cardiac catherization on Thurs. morning. He answered questions in his office and before and after the procedure. I never felt a thing. He's direct and to the point. My experience with him is nothing like some of the reviews I've read.

Went in for Angiogram, He was 4 hours late! I saw him for maybe 30 seconds before going in and got no explanation as to why he was late. Once I was on the table, he did not do one but two Angiograms. According to the medical staff, (My Kids found this out), he was "Pissed" he had only found blockages that were under the size that would let him put in a Stint on the first one so he went in a second time. In the end, when I was coming out of it he showed up for anther 30 Second session, and he was pissed off and I did not get anything out of it other than I have multiple blockages. As for the Holmes Cardiac Care unit folks, they get 5 Stars! The staff was great and in spite of the horrible position, Dr Swain put them in they were wonderful. Normally that Unit is done with all their outpatient surgeries by 5 or 6 in the evening. That day the staff got stuck taking care of me until 11 pm.

An expert in cardio matters. Answers all questions in detail with compassion. He has saved my life and continues to do so. Highly recommended.

Tom Swain treated a potentially serious problem with a flippant attitude. He was dismissive, avoidant and did a cursory analysis on data he'd ordered be collected. He would not give clear answers as I pressed him for information and told me my Dad would be fine. In my opinion he did not honor the hippocratic oath of do no harm. I would not recommend him in the slightest capacity. If you're seeing a cardiologist there is certainly an issue, or at least potential for an issue. I grade him an F.
