Thomas Teather's Online Review Report Card

Dr Theater and his staff are horrible! They don’t care about their patients. He is dropping all of his pediatric patients. His office rescheduled my sons appointment 3 times. He is the only Ophthalmology for pediatric in Melbourne. His office was not helpful trying to find a new dr for their patients. I was told to go to Orlando. When I found a new Dr (45 mins away). I had to pay for my sons medical records. His staff is very rude and not helpful. Dr. Theater is not personable or good with kids.

I am beyond disappointed that after seeing my daughter for almost her entire life, Dr. Teather's office left a voicemail the day before her appointment canceling because "he no longer sees pediatric patients."My daughter has amblyopia and has been through extensive treatments since she was a baby. Dr. Teather has been her only vision doctor and was supposed to perform her surgery but Covid interrupted our timeline.Once the office opened again, we waited six months for an appointment. At that visit, my daughter's pupils were not sufficiently dilated so he scheduled us to come back in a month and try again. The day before that appointment, he canceled. The next available appointment was over 3 months away but we waited since he was doing her surgery.After all this waiting, I was stunned to receive the voicemail THE DAY BEFORE her appointment (again!) telling us to find a new doctor with the names of two optometrists. Dr. Teather is an ophthalmologist. The lack of professionalism displayed throughout all of this is astounding. Not only are they dealing with patients, but children are often prepared in advance for these visits. It's not only inconvenient but unethical to treat pediatric (or any) patients so dismissively.My daughter's vision progress was set back by Covid and exacerbated by Dr. Teather's lack of care, concern, or professionalism. The only reason you should go to his office is on your way to Joan's Perfect Pie next door.

I absolutely loved this Doctor. He did really good cataract surgery on my friend and then another person I met said how good he was and then i went to him and he was so kind, and polite and told me I have cataracts but that I didn't have to have them operated on yet. I loved all the information he gave me and that he explained everything to me so well. I guess that's why I keep hearing so many good things about him. And, since I have gone there and talked about him to other people, I was surprised to hear how many other people go there and hear what a good job they did for them. The staff was really nice also. Sometimes offices don't have such good assistants, but they were just as nice and helpful and polite and happy as the doctor. I really enjoyed going there.

I love Dr Teather and how he has everything set up so safely now with COVID. He discovered eye problem no other doctor and I am so grateful. He is kind, patient, polite, and such a great bedside manner and so knowledgeable and explained everything so carefully, that I now know not to worry, but that it will get taken care of. I am so grateful that we have such a caring doctor in this town. Turns out he operated on my friend and he totally fixed his eye problem too. And, then I found out other freinds who had cataract surgery with him that also couldn't say enough good things about him.

I’m in shock at how horrible this office is. We’ve had an appointment for 8 months now for our son. Two days before his appointment I get a call that my time needs to be changed. I leave messages with no return call. I wait on hold for over 7 minutes and they advise me they just stopped accepting peds patients. 1. Not what their message stated 2. It’s been posted to a mom group for over 3 weeks. I’m now stuck waiting for another 7 months for a specialist. They could have advised us close to a month ago rather than the day of our appointment.

Dx of adult strabismus/Horizontal double vision. Dr Teather gave me a program to retrain my vision which helped some. But I was still seeing double outside of 6-8 ft. My double vision made driving, watching my son’s sports, and any activity requiring a range beyond this next to impossible. Dr Teather waited 6 months to allow my vision to stabilize or improve rather than rush surgery while my vision could’ve continued to worsen or improve after the surgery. Either one would have made the surgery moot. The surgery relaxes and tightens the inner and outer eye musculature. They leave adjustable sutures in the muscles to be adjusted after the surgery as it’s a very fine point of adjustment. Teather nailed it and there was no need to adjust the sutures post surgery. You can’t imagine what an effect it’s made on my life unless you’ve walked around cross eyed for a full year. In addition to performing small miracles, Teather is efficient while still addressing all my questions.

Dr. Thomas Teather is a fantastic doctor who took the time to help me with my eye condition. He is very friendly, professional, and went out of his way to make sure that I was no longer in pain. I highly recommend him! He's also awesome with kids.

I do NOT recommend Melbourne United Laser Vision -- Thomas C. Teather, MD We had an appointment scheduled for August. I called to confirm the appointment and they said they sent a letter canceling the appointment due to Dr. Teather being out of the office. I never received a letter. Instead of squeezing us in they wanted to push back the appointment until November. We are unable to wait that long due to the eye issues she is having. We already had to wait a couple months for the August appointment, which is normal. It's not our fault that they scheduled us on a day that the doctor is now unavailable. Waiting another 3 months is not okay! We have seen him before and he was okay but, quickly went through the appointment with little interest or interaction. The staff isn't the nicest.

Very professional doctor. Our family has been going to him for years and have always been so happy with the care we received by Dr. Teather and his staff. My kids are grown now and still love him.
