Dr. Pollack... I was thrilled that you accepted me as one of your patients. After being diagnosed @ Baptist/MCI by Dr. Manoharan, I was referred to Dr. Rodriguez in their RT department. She was so busy she barely had time to speak with me and my friend Dr. Harris Mones during a virtual consult. Harris and I both said it’s time to look elsewhere..... Research brought me to your door and even though your schedule was full around Christmas time, Lourdes asked you if you could find time for a virtual with me/Dr. Mones. Time was (and always is...) of the essence. It was my lucky day when you accepted me as a patient in your practice. Thank you. I have attempted to repay that gratitude by being not only on time, but early, for every appointment and making every appointment with respect for the parameters the appointment required. I realized you made me part of the team and I tried my hardest to fulfill my part. I told Dr. Abromiwitz I called you “Dr. Star Wars”. He said “Oh ya...the face shield” and I said ya- and he plays with unseen forces!!! You are a hero in my book. I’m pleased to be part of your cosmic empire..... My friend Harris said you are dedicated to helping others and mentoring your protégés if you are in your 70’s and still running a full schedule. It was my lucky day you were there to share your expertise with me. Thank you again Dr. Pollack. One more funny anecdote: at one point after a consult appointment you asked how I was feeling. I could feel a warmth in my heart so I said “my heart”. You had your M. A. take me to another room and check my BPM and pressure. It came back w/ normal parameters, I guess she couldn’t measure that feeling. Thank you and your team. Dan
I have been a patient of Dr. Pollack for several years and can testified that his kindness and high level of expertise, as demonstrated by his numerous studies, surpasses in large measure the standards of medical care.
Dr. Pollack is a top researcher and a highly competent and compassionate Dr. who will do his best to fulfill your health needs. A rare find in today’s medical setting.
Awful experience, avoid this doctor.
Right form the beginning it was wrong with Dr. Pollack's office. It took 1 month to see him, then he convinced my husband that it would be best to get a toric lense for the cataract surgery which was $1900 out-of pocket since BCBS would only pay for the regular lense. Then when I questioned that advise, it took 5 separate phone calls from 5 separate people to explain why that was necessary. He prescribed medication that cost us $75 out of pocket, when we were prescribed the same exact medication a few months earlier from a detached retina surgery that cost us only $7.00 - exactly the same medicine! then 1 week before surgery, we were to begin the surgery regiment, we called the pharmacy only to find out that the medication he prescribed was going to cost us $378.00 out-of pocket with no alternative. So, we called his office, only to be told by Dr. Ellyn that the prescribed pre-surgery regiment was all together wrong! It just did not give us the confidence to trust that the doctor, or his staff cared enough to know what they were doing.
I had a very pleasant experience with both the technician and Dr. Pollack. Unfortunately I have had a very hard time with the office staff since my appointment. It has now taken four different calls to the office and two to insurance to (hopefully) finally get it sorted out that I had the wrong charge on my statement. They insisted that I owed $135 for my appointment when I was confident (and, it turns out, correct) that I only owed $35. They were rude to me on the phone and continually blew me off when I tried to correct the problem. When they finally directed me to their external billing company, I was treated with respect and the problem was solved.
I have used Dr. Pollack's office for many years after being referred here by a friend. Whether it is for my annual exam or an emergency, I have always been pleased with his services and ability to fix my problems. He also spends the time to explain things so I understand them. I will keep going back and will recommend him to anyone who needs an excellent ophthalmologist.
I loss my job in 2008 and my insurance got frozen. Since then I had no stable job and my debts and bills went out of hand plus garnishment. But Dr Pollack never let be down. He provided me all the prescriptions I needed for my eye drops. Honestly, each time I went there Pollack and his staff make me feel bless because they always care for my present and needs. I live far away but if I need refill I call them and they make it happen right away. Thank God for such an excellent and knowledgeable services from Dr Alan Pollack and his staff.I am always looking for a way to show them my appreciation and I was fortunate discussing this with a friend who gave me this web-site.Francis, flaari@aol.com
My experience with visiting Dr. Pollack's office was quite pleasant. The office is clean and nicely decorated, and his staff was efficient. Not only is Dr. Pollack a brilliant diagnostician, but he is also a kind person. He took the time to speak with me about my personal life and remembered things about me from my visit 2 years before. Many of my friends from church are patients of Dr. Pollacks. We think he is the best!
Dr. Pollack gave me conflicting information about his recommendation for cataract surgery. At first he said the surgery was recommended for patients whose poor vision was impairing their quality of life. When I indicated my vision was still quite good, he changed his story and said I needed the surgery within 6 months. It didn't add up and I felt pressured. A second opinion told me what I suspected - that my cataracts were at a very early stage and surgery was not recommended at this time. There was also a serious problem with his technician. I do not recommend this practice.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
