Became interested in PAE procedure last Oct 2020. For over 30 years I have had BPH symptoms and low PSA. After visits to several Doctors and trying all kinds of pills to sink my prostate I was recommended the microwave procedure about 8 years ago. The microwave seemed to help for about a year. I continued to accept the problems associated with BPH. Last year I saw the Urolift procedure on the net and call my urologist. After several tests my prostate was to large for the Urolift he recommended Dr Gonzales-Beicos at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne Fl. Dr Gonzales practice the Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE). Dr Gonzales's 1st meeting was very thorough and in details about the procedure. After our meeting I agreed to proceed with the procedure. In Nov 2020 I had the 1st procedure with no success. Problem was by entering the wrist and after several hours' Dr G had difficulty getting to the prostate artery. Dr G discussed the problem he had and recommended the 2nd visit he would enter through my groin. The 2nd procedure was successful and I was able to experience improvement in my urinary flow and able to sleep several hours longer at night. We discussed doing the other prostate by entering through the other side of the groin. The 3rd procedure was also successful and I have noticed further improvements. Dr. Gonzalez Beicos is associated with Health First at Holmes Regional Hospital. He is an Interventional Radiologist. My husband is very satisfied with his treatment and I am very happy with his staff and the treatment we got all around. Gary was looking at a catheter the rest of his life or surgery to remove the prostate. Gary is an 83 year old man and not looking forward to either. I have a very bad surgery phobia and the doctor reassured me the whole time that everything was gonna be OK the only thing that was uncomfortable was swallowing a little tube but that only took about five seconds other than that everything was perfectly fine and a lot less painful than I thought it would be. I would refer him to anybody.
