En Abril de este año conocí doctor Alvaro José Alencar, quien reemplazó al excelente Oncólogo Jorge Antúnez de Mayolo. Para empezar, fui yo quien me presenté cuando el doctor Alencar entró a la oficina de la Universidad de Miami. Y extendiéndole la mano le dije mi nombre ya que el no atinó a presentarse y con un hi pretendía empezar a hablar. Sabiendo que estaba en remisión, me dijo que mi cáncer había sido algo suave y que era como algo crónico que si regresaba, me ponían en tratamiento y se podría ir otra vez. Me sentí como si estuviera viendo a mi médico general y él hablándome de un resfrío o un dolor de cabeza. Parece que el Sr. Alencar no sabe o no le ha tocado ver de cerca lo que una persona pasa con los efectos de la quimio o talvez la ha visto demasiado y eso lo ha desensibilizado. Escribo y describo todo esto después de haber pagado mi consulta por haber conocido a un hombre de mucho prestigio pero de cero empatía y buena educación. Con el poder de Dios sus palabras fueron rechazadas en mi corazón pero nosé si otros pacientes en remisión lo tomen de la misma manera y por eso lo publico. Ojalá el señor Alencar tome conciencia que no sólo las enfermedades matan, las palabras también.

When other Hospitals and other Doctors told us that our mother had only 3 months to live and wanted us to place her in hospice. Dr. Alencar saved her life. It has been 5 years since that diagnosis, and we are so grateful to him for his compassion, superb knowledge and positivity. Thank you so much Dr. Alencar for saving our mother.

This physician has proven time and again that he only looks at the patient as a disease process and not a complete person. He does not communicate with the primary care provider and pushes as much on to other physicians as possible. His excuse being that he only deals with his disease processes and refuses to look at anything else, including medications that are within his realm of expertise. His communications with the family are arrogant and haughty. His knowledge of the patient is only what he can read in the computer system. If it is not there or additional questions need to be asked, he will not investigate. They claim to be a comprehensive cancer institute. They are not. Find someone else.

Knowledgeable. Reviews and explains examination findings in a clear, concise, and unhurried, manner. Answers questions precisely and directly. All in all, shows a friendly interest in patient's concerns.

Dr. Alencar is an unbelievable doctor and person! He is caring knowledgable and with all the way during your treatment.. He made an my treatment and all follow-ups easy comfortable and tolerable.,His honestly and approach with everything made me grateful I was under is care! He is the Best.

Dr. Alencar is by far the best hematologist in Florida in my opinion. I am under his care in a clinical trial. He is up-to-date on all of the latest treatments. Dr Alencar was was helpful in letting us understand the many outcomes of my daughter's symptoms. He made sure all tests were stat and was very knowledgeable.
