Everything that a Doctor should be and most are not, he is simply one of the best.

I could not ask for a better doctor and he’s a wonderful human being. He sets the bar.

I will absolutely recommend Dr.Shimmel. He is an excellent specialist and human being. I am an ER nurse, always on the run. When I was 30th years old, I lost my vision on my right eye. It happened when I was working. I was scared I was going to be blind for the rest of my life. I thought I was going to loose everything I had…my career, my job, my new house. I really felt hopeless. However, Dr. Shimmel was able to reassure me that everything was going to be fine. That I was going to have my vision back. He cares about the well being of his patients. He explained the whole procedure very calmly and answered all my questions. The surgery was a success, It’s been almost 10 yrs, and he still great. Thanks to Dr. Shimmel I got my life back.

I was in Oman watching a symphony my friend was performing with the Bilbao Philharmonic when I started seeing more 'floaters' than normal. I did not pay too much attention to it as I then jetted off to Bali. There, I started to feel my eye was 'scratchy' and saw a small blob in the right corner of my eye. Being in Indonesia, I decided to just wait a couple of days to get back to Miami instead of going to a doctor there (I could see just fine:) Upon arriving, Dr. Schimel looked at my eye and told me it was a torn retina (keep in mind...if I had a blunt force trauma...I would have gone to a doctor immediately). He told me that the retina was looking really bad because of the delay and insisted he operate immediately. (Being a University of Michigan grad, I was glad to hear he was too and got his Dr. at Northwestern in Chicago.) I was told the operation was very technical and took almost 2 hours. There was a big question if my eyesight would ever come back. Well, I am glad to tell you it has...I am almost back to normal as the healing process is quite gradual. This doctor is as fantastic as they come. He is focused, cool and professional. I owe the eyesight of my right eye to this guy. PS On follow-up visits, the service was quick and all of his patients waiting for him all had smiles and thought the world of him too. We are lucky to have this Midwesterner down here:)) Thanks Doc! & Go Blue!!!!

The Best Eye Doctor in Miami !!! Dr. Schimel has GREAT staff, and always there to help. I promise you won't find a better Eye Doctor than Dr. Schimel. A+++++

I am a surgeon and saw Dr. Schimel as a second opinion. The first doctor I went to just prescribed me glasses but didn’t have an explainstuon for my deteriorating eye sight. Dr. Schimel was able to diagnose the problem right away and we are working on the solution. His office staff is great and the office runs efficiently. The technology used is modern and the environment is pleasent. I highly recommend this doctor!

My injections are great with Dr. Schimel. I used to go to the "most famous place in the world" and wait hours and then have painful injections and then decided to try Dr. Schimel after my friend said she didn't have any pain with his injections. Dr. Schimel has changed my life. I no longer fear going to get my eye injections. He is so kind and gentle and knowledgable.
