Excellent physician, very compassionate and informative.

I would like to address a recent review posted by Eden Joseph, who made some derogatory comments about Dr. Ucar. I would first like to thank Dr. Ucar and his team for all they did for Barbara. Dr. Ucar was able to get Barbara enrolled in a trial for pancreatic cancer that allowed her to receive two types of chemo in the beginning and 1 round of radiation (although she had to be removed because changes to her cancer disqualified her, she was still able to receive the same chemo regimen for 11 rounds) this opportunity helped increase her life. Barbara went into radiograph remission for almost 1 yr before her cancer became active again. Overall, she survived 2 yrs and six months from the official date of diagnosis. This was not by accident, or because she had good genes, this was because of the care she received from Dr. Ucar. Dr. Ucar always took his time with Barbara and would answer all of our questions and emails; even when he was on vacation with his family, he was still in contact with his patients and his staff to ensure they received the care they needed. I would like to address a few things stated that are just false. Joseph would like everyone to believe she drove back and forth (the 40-mile trip) to see Dr. Ucar over the years) the truth is she not only never met him, she never spoke with him, so how can she offer an opinion? Not one single email to ask a question. I sent the man emails monthly asking questions or asking about new treatments we read about, and always received a response usually the same day. Barbara was in stage 3, not 4; her cancer had not spread as of her last scan. Barbara was stage 3 from the time she began 2 and a half yrs ago. If Joseph had bothered to speak with Dr. Ucar, she would know that he spoke with her about hospice in February, and Barbara refused and wanted to give the next chemo a chance to work. Barbara, while she was under my wife’s care (my wife was her daughter), would stay in the Hope wing of Baptist in Kendall, FL. A fairly new facility for cancer patients with large rooms. If they were placed anywhere else, my wife would get in contact with the patient coordinator and have her moved. If Joseph had bothered to know anything about how Baptist and MCI work, she would have known that Baptist Hospital has its own oncologists on staff and see hospital patients. Miami Cancer Institute “MCI” is a specialist facility serving cancer patients only in partnership with Sloan Kettering. Dr. Ucar does not see patients at Baptist. Patients of Dr. Ucar see the hospital oncologists who coordinate with Dr. Ucar’s team so he knows everything that is happening with his patients. If the patient has a long stay in the hospital, a member of Dr. Ucar’s team may stop by. In fact, after each hospital stay, Barbara had to visit with Dr. Ucar prior to receiving any further treatment. Barbara had several stays in the hospital, and all her family members knew this. It was not a secret. Joseph should focus more on the care Barbara received while she lived with her and her family rather than attack hard-working physicians who did nothing, but help keep Barbara alive. Maybe she should ask herself, “Why did Barbara keep falling in our house” or “Maybe when she did fall, we should have taken her to the hospital rather than wait a week for her to fall again and wind up in the hospital for 3 nights” and learn she had almost lacerated her spleen from a fall the week before. Barbara did not pass from her cancer. She passed from falling again 2 weeks later and fracturing her hip and was placed in hospice. In the end, it was her home care that cost Barbara her life. Barbara’s oldest daughter, her husband, and Eden all had a role in her care, which in our opinion lead to her demise. Barbara truly loved and trusted Dr. Ucar. She respected him and would not even try any holistic approach without asking him first. The post made by Joseph would have angered Barbara. She would have been embarrassed and ashamed.

Dr Ucar has been my father's oncologist for the past 5 years. He is very caring, accessible and knowledgeable. We are very thankful for his care and attention.

On behalf of my grandmother who has stage 4 pancreatic cancer, what a joke this doctor is. My grandma was hospitalized and he decided he didn’t want to break the news to her that she has 1-6 months left to live and to stop chemo. So instead, he sent hospice nurses to inform her, my mother, and myself while she’s laying sick in a dingy hospital bed. Ucar’s bedside manner is abysmal at best. We would drive 40+ miles from Fort Lauderdale to see this doctor because he was raved to be the best in his field. A doctor who is the best in their field would actually take the time to tell this to their patients and their families, not hide behind palliative care nurses. This is considered abandonment and I will be reporting his license to the FDOH. Hope he loses it.

Dr. Ucar and physician assistant were super. Their excellence of medical care is equal to none. I am very lucky to have them.

Dr Ucar is very low key but an excellent physician with a wonderful reputation.
