Dr.Boshnick is THE most phenomenal doctor I’ve ever been to. I’ve unfortunately been to a lot of eye doctors for a pretty severe eye condition that I have. He stands out as the best doctor I’ve ever gone to, and I am grateful that I am under his care. He has access to the best technology in the world for scleral lenses, which is very important, because scleral lenses is one of the most advanced specialties that an eye doctor can be in. Fit is everything, and that is something Dr.Boshnick is very good at. The way I explain it to my parents is, every optometrist is like a scientist. Some are general scientists, and some are specialists in particular specialties. If you have a science question that is a big deal, you want to go to the best scientist in the world, who is a master at their subject. You don’t just want to go to a general science teacher for rocket science, because they won’t be able to help you very much, and they may even steer you on the wrong path. I think of scleral lenses as like rocket science for optometrists. Dr.Boshnick is a world leader in these lenses, and he will help you get the eye “peace” you deserve. He also has connections to every lens maker, which means that he can inquire about unique questions or specifications that are needed for your lens. Overall, I would recommend him to anyone needed an expert optometrist to solve their needs.

Make sure you shop around. I need RGP lenses and got a referral. I've worn RGP lenses before and paid a regular exam fee and around $150 per lens. I was told it would be $3,000 to see the doctor to get fitted for lenses. Rip off. Price gouging. Don't go here. Update: I called a local doctor who agreed to do the exam for $239. Contact lenses will be 100-150 per eye. To be clear in response to the doctor’s comments below, I made it clear that I have worn RPG lenses and do not need scleral lenses. I am new to the area and this was a referral. Perhaps the office should have better communication and simply state that they don’t fit for RPG lenses. $3k for this service would be unreasonable based on my 10+ years of being fitted yearly for contacts.

Finding Dr. Boshnick sooner would have saved me a lot of grief and wasted/lost time. If you’re looking for a doctor to fit scleral lenses, this is the one. He can help when others can’t. The scleral fitting process requires several different fittings and is an involved and lengthy process, no matter who does it. That is just how it is, if you want it done right. Dr. Boshnick, by far, made this less frustrating and faster than any experience I’ve had in twelve years. He has a deeper understanding of post LASIK problems than anyone I’ve come across. What has taken others hours or is just a mystery is something he’s seen or is familiar with. He’s up on all the latest technology and specializes in sclerals. You won’t find anyone with more experience. He offers the best selection of lenses I’ve seen. He will use what works best for you, with no allegiance to a particular lens manufacturer. He has ALL the imaging equipment. From retinal to corneal imaging, he was able to see existing and potential issues. He images to see EXACTLY what’s going on, where others have guessed at my issues and made corrections without all the data. For one fitting fee, he saw me many times and did tons of imaging, all included. He saw me multiple times a week. No one else gets lenses in as fast as he does. Knowing I was coming from out of town, he went to great lengths to get lenses turned around really quickly for me, working with multiple labs. He spoke to the labs and worked out issues in front of me. I was able to hear exactly what was going on, with nothing behind closed doors. No doctor will care more about your experience and mental and emotional well being. He understands the trauma that brings us to him, and he genuinely cares. He wants to see us happy and thriving. His whole office is kind, efficient, and knowledgable. It’s rare to find an entire office full of people this kind and efficient. They genuinely care and are incredibly helpful and attentive. I was pleasantly surprised that the person who picked up the phone the first time (Marcela, you’re awesome!) was able to talk to me in detail and answer all my questions. He actually listens to feedback and was never patronizing. I think he could figure out what I needed if I never said a word, but he always listened to my input and factored it in. When I’ve had emergencies or even what I thought might be and wasn’t, he was available to me and got back to me asap, even after hours. He also checked on me when he didn’t have to. As for my story, I have corneal damage (among other things) from LASIK surgery in 2001. I’ve worn scleral lenses since around 2010, but have had trouble getting a good fit for the last few years. I even had poorly fitting lenses that caused cysts with no solutions offered. I reached the end of two scleral fitters’ ability before Dr. Boshnick. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to wear sclerals anymore, and I was starting to panic. I decided to see Dr. Boshnick, since he has a reputation for solving problems others cannot. I thought, if he’s not able to fit me, at least I’ll know I gave it every chance. This has been one of the best decisions of my life! Not only did he get the fit right for me, my vision is better than it has been in YEARS! If you’re familiar with this condition, you’ll understand what I mean when I say I ONLY SEE ONE MOON IN THE SKY NOW!! I can’t even explain how this makes me feel. Breathless. I have a bit of a “complicated” eye to fit that requires newer technology that maps the irregular shape of my eye. Dr. Boshnick stuck with me through the process of figuring out all the nuances of my issues. He was right there with me the whole way, always efficient and knowledgable, always concerned with how I was doing. Before him, I was told that most doctors won’t spend two and a half hours with a patient, like I was being a burden. I lost track of how many hours and days he spent with me. He’s just in it with you, until it’s figured out. This is hard to find, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. See him! He is a rare jewel.
