List of Elaine C Tozman's Reviews
My cardiologist recommended that get evaluated for a connective tissue disorder called EDS type 3 after noticing my joints were very hypermobile. Dr Tozeman did not seem interested in my case and evaluated a few joints without using the beighton scale which is the standard. She was dismissive and rushed me out when I pressed her if she thought I had EDS. She laughed doubtfully and said “we’ll see what the bloodwork says.” This was an ironic response because EDS type 3 is NOT diagnosed through bloodwork. The bloodwork she DID order was in no way relevant to my case. The results went “missing” as well and I called her office multiple times to inquire about it but was hung up on each time. My mother also called for me and got the same treatment. THREE years after I was dismissed that day, I was formally diagnosed with EDS type 3 at UM by a wonderful geneticist named Dr. Forghani. I developed every systemic complication of EDS while I remained undiagnosed due to her and suffered greatly.
I am very pleased with Dr. Tozman she's a remarkable physician, compassionate and I am confident under her care. She is the type of Doctor that explains everything to her patients in a clear and precise way. The appointments are never rushed and I am fortunate to find a Doctor with her experience, professionalism and wisdom. Thank you for caring.
Dr. Tozman has been my doctor for over 10 years. She’s a wonderful, caring compassionate doctor who listens to your problems and takes the time to explain her treatment with you.
Just called, Dr Tozman is not available until 5 months from now. She should indicate that she is not seeing new patients at the moment. The rep was so unhelpful offering no alternatives.
I've been struggling with an undiagnosed condition for years. After having bloodwork drawn multiple times, telling doctors what I felt and repeatedly feeling that the practitioners I was seeing were not investigating my symptoms, I finally ended up having a physical attack that out me in the ER. I was referred to Dr. Tozman who, at that time, could not explain what was going on with me since it was very early in my diagnosis and the bloodwork wasn't reflecting any real problems. Fast forward 3 years and after having my bloodwork change drastically and seeing another rheumatologist that made me feel terrible, I finally went back to Dr. Tozman and it was the best decision I ever made. She sat and reviewed all my lab work which I had been printing and took to her. She listened to all of my symptoms and made me feel HEARD and understood. She didn't undermine my symptoms just because of the absence of a mylar rash. She told me what for so long I already knew to be true - I have lupus. Finally, a name - a diagnosis to the symptoms I had been experiencing for so long. And a doctor who I felt was compassionate and knowledgable. My only regret is not having gone to her sooner. As selfish as it is, I don't ever want Dr. Tozman to retire. She is wonderful, professional, funny, compassionate and I would recommend her to any of my friends or loved ones.
Best doctor, compassionate and knowledgeable
Dr Tozman was very unhelpful. It was a telehealth appointment where I’ve had off lab values including elevated inflammatory markers. She essentially asked why i got an appointment with her and how could she help me. She didn’t ask like a doctor but rather acted like I pulled a random person off the street to ask about inflammation. She essentially looked through my oortal and questioned me on my tests and what other specialties opined. She really gaslit me by acting as if I was crazy for seeking answers of inflammation markers. She concluded that she wouldn’t do any testing and just left me with no insight on rheumatology. She had zero curiosity about my inflammation or autoimmune condition. Waste of my time, money and energy.
I had a virtual appointment with her where she failed to introduce herself or show any sort of pleasantry. She requested I send her my lab results and promised to order more and get back to me. She proceeded to ignore me for the next 3 months before no showing to a virtual appointment she dumped on my calendar. I literally got stood up by a “doctor” and never heard back why she didn’t show. Can you believe what you’re reading? I’ve called many times, emailed Tozman directly 9 times, and left two messages in the Portal. I’ve been ignored for 4 months now, Oh and the system doesn’t show my lab results to have ever been entered after she confirmed to have received them. How can she even call herself a doctor?? This has caused me immense stress and anger over 4 months time which has worsened my condition. Meanwhile, U of Miami is still forcing me to pay the bill. Tozman is a disgrace to doctors and the U of Miami health systems. This is borderline malpractice. I’m appalled.
I live in Naples and I would not change going to Dr. Tozman for anything in the world. To me she is the absolute best! Attentive, professional, caring, knowledgeable, takes her time to listen to the patients. The best rheumatologist I have found in years of dealing with several auto immune issues.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
