List of Flavia Nelson's Reviews
I went to Dr Flavia Nelson at U of M Fairview, Minneapolis, from May-Dec 2021. In June 2021 based on an MRI she diagnosed me as having Progressive MS and said she was concerned by how much my brain was shrinking. She left to work in Florida Jan. 2022, so I got a new neurologist. She examined my June 2021 MRI and said that she did not understand how Dr Nelson came to those conclusions. This April 2022 this new neurologist had me take 3 hours of new MRIs, and they showed I did not have Progressive MS and my brain was not shrinking any more than is normal for an older person. Although she is an expert on cognitive decline, Dr Nelson also did not notice that the medication a previous doctor prescribed caused cognitive decline in people over 65 (I was 73 when I saw Dr Nelson). I went off it by chance and in a few weeks my cognitive ability improved completely. All of these errors caused me grief and expense. I had really liked and trusted Dr Nelson, and she had given my daughter who has MS good care, so I was stunned to discover this. Either she misread my MRI or accidentally read someone else's. The current diagnosis is that I do not quite meet the diagnostic criteria for MS and that I have neuropathy. I have not declined, as she predicted, but improved.
Dr. Nelson is an extraordinary doctor who cares about her patients. I saw Dr. Nelson for the first time in March 2022 and let me say I've never had a doctor explain and listen to me as Dr. Nelson. I went to see Dr. Nelson for a second opinion and I ended up staying with her instead of my regular Neuro. She knows M.S like the back of her hand and if you are battling this disease she is the one to see for help and treatment
Dr. Nelson was my wife's neurologist for several years prior to her 2017 move from Houston to Minneapolis. Not only is Dr. Nelson among the top researchers into the issue of cognitive impairment in multiple sclerosis, but she is the most caring doctor I've ever enjoyed having on our team. Flavia was always accessible. She responded to emails promptly, handled urgent issues with speed and, most important, showed me repeatedly that she cared for my health as much as my wife's. (I dealt with depression as a result of being a long-term caregiver.) She also is very open-minded regarding the use of holistic treatments as supplements/alternatives to purely prescribing medication. We wish she'd come back!
Dr Nelson was treating me for MS. She is an amazing physician. Her knowledge of MS has helped me lead a better life due to the meds she prescribed. She listens closely to my issues and has never rushed me.
Probably the best MS doctor in the Houston area. She takes the time to explain everything and is very patient. She is excellent and I highly recommend her
great intelligent doctor but hard to reach. 6 month wait time for appointment. she books you for your next appointment when you leave. 75% chance that appointment will be canceled less than two weeks before. She travels a lot for her research. horrible bedside manner. you're going to wait an hour to get seen. once you get your blood pressure checked then you wait in the room for an hour. then you see her for thirty minutes max. she leaves the room when shes done and you follow her out. no byes or 'do you have any questions.' don't expect that. shes brilliant but she doesnt have time for her patients. last two hospitalizations, she didn't show up. the rotating neurologists in the hospital hinted heavily to me that she wouldn't be coming. everyone seems to know
Dra. Nelson mañana voy a ver al Dr..Right espero haya podido contactarla .El sabado me pusieron el Tysabry y todo bien.
She has been my doctor now for several years, I really like her, I chose her because she would come in with my previous doctor so I knew she would understand my health issues. To me I think she is very personable. Always answers any concerns I have. I would definitely recommend her to a family or friend. I also get prompt email responses, surprisingly I have called thinking I would speak with a nurse and she actually answered the phone. I can understand the frustration of a prior post. Initially when I went to UT referred by another physician it did take awhile to get a visit but afterwards it was smooth sailing. They see a lot of patients. The only time I had a long wait was because she was called into a meeting no fault of hers. She is a doctor I can be completely honest with
My heath has been poor and I am looking for a MS diagnosis as well as treatment. I had to wait 4 months to get an appointment. When I went I ended up waiting over 3 hours to be seen and then had to wait an additional 2 hours AFTER just to get blood lab orders. I thought that was CRAZY! Then someone was to call me back to schedule my MRI well I waited 2 weeks and no call. So I called and left a voicemail. No one ever returned my calls. I waited another week and left another voice mail. I have sent 3 emails to the nurse and have left 4 voicemails in almost 8 weeks. No one has returned my calls or emails!! I donâ??t understand? The nurse eventually emailed me my blood lab results I requested without any time of response. The labs that came back flagged high didnâ??t have any type of explanation nor Has Dr. Flavia called me to let me know if I am ok having these high levels, I am extremely disappointed in the service and care of this office. I am walking around for another several months without care just waiting for this Dr. to help me. If they are too busy to care for their patients and unable to follow up they should not be taking new patients. I wasted a lot of Money, time and frustration with these people and I am very upset. I will not ever recommend this Dr. to anyone.
She does not rush and always listens to my concerns. If I e-mail her , she's prompt to reply back. I really like this doctor have been going to her for several years.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
