Gil Yosipovitch's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Yosipovitch has been so helpful. I moved from NY to FL about a year ago. I see him form eczema, which I have had since I was a baby. He has been so committed and concerned with guiding me on this long journey. He has made me feel comfortable and calm throughout my entire experience. When something doesn't work, he listens to me and is ready to guide me in a different direction. It is always important to have a specialist who is dedicated to helping his patients, and Dr. Yosipovitch does just that.

I flew from Manhattan to see Dr. Yosipovitch in Coral Gables, Florida. After my initial visit, I was no longer able to get in touch with this doctor for a follow up discussion. I left several messages on the UM portal for him to please return my calls. I left messages with two of his assistants and still no response. After two weeks of pleading and leaving messages, I gave up. Incredibly irresponsible doctor!! Do not go to Dr. Yosipovitch. He is not a moral professional. You will be disappointed.

UM deans ought to supervise closely and review this doctor. I had one of the worst medical appointments I have had at the University of Miami. This doctor kept asking me if I had a pain in my neck and he asked me three times after I said no, I had no pain in my neck or my back, that I was at this initial visit because of itching that I had as a result of chemotherapy, medication, and kidney issues. None of the medication‘s had worked and I was miserable. He asked me a fourth time if I had any neck pain. Was he deaf? I said again I wasn’t there because I had any pains in my neck or my back, and I explained again. He then told me he wanted me to have an MRI. I was even more perplexed and astounded! I told him I had had surgery two weeks before and that I was allergic to the contrast used in an MRI and that I was not going to have an MRI at this time, that I wanted to see a dermatologist about the itching that I had as a result of my chemo and kidney problems. I don’t think he really took a look at my record, and once he realized I was unwilling to have an MRI, he said he would help me then with my symptoms of itching, that he could prescribe something but that “ it would not be covered by the insurance.” His persistent question about neck ache, he is insisting on insistence also on wanting me to have an MRI, and now telling me that the insurance will not cover the ointment that he said “was custom-made” should’ve been red flags. He asked me if I wanted him to prescribe such an ointment for my itching. What could I say since I was desperate with itching in my arms? I replied that yes, if it did not cost an arm and a leg, and I could afford it, I would pay for the ointment that would relieve my horrible itching. He gave me two prescriptions and out the door I went. Before I had driven five minutes out of the office, a pharmacy from Philadelphia was calling me to get my credit card so they could make the custom-made ointment for which they told me would be sent to me by regular US post office mail. That was really annoying and unnecessary because I needed a prescription right away and I didn’t understand why the doctor could not have one of many local excellent pharmacies in Miami make the custom-made prescription. I had asked the doctor what was in that prescription, and his answer was : “Whatever I put in it.” He did not tell me what would be in it at the time. He also prescribed some pills that I went to get at Walgreens but when I went by it wasn’t ready. I called his office to inquire as to whether these pills might be contradictory to my cancer treatment plan. I thought I would ask before I would take anything. My first called, I talk to a real life person in the office and they told me they would have to call me back and I left my name on my number and the issue . I had also left a clear message and no one called me back. The first time I called, I spoke with someone and they told me they would be calling me back. To this day, no one ever followed up. Since nobody from the doctors office ever called me back, I took the initiative to talk with the pharmacist at Walgreens, and he told me not to take that medication until I spoke to the doctor or his office because he thought it would be counter indicative for sure to my problem with my kidneys that I had already mentioned to the doctor. I called the pharmacy in Philadelphia that was making the ointment, and that Pharmacist also voiced the same concern as the one in Walgreens and told me to speak with the doctors office before taking those pills because they could be hurtful to my kidneys. Even after two calls to the doctors office, they never called me back. Many days later I received the custom-made ointment and I started trying it out.I looked at the combination of ingredients, they were similar or the same ingredients that I had already been using that I’m not worked. I cannot say that this doctor was rude or anything, but he was certainly very strange in his manner of questioning me from the start, showed no connection with me at all, and did not resolve the reason I went to see him in the first place, and I would never ever go back to him. UM can do better in terms of its doctors and follow up with patients in this case, this doctor, this experience I had. Fortunately, once I felt better of my other health issues, I had enough sense to never make another appointment with this dermatologist and find another one. I did find another one and I am very happy with a very professional, kind and compassionate, knowledgeable and experienced dermatologist that I now have and like. It’s a difference of night and day. Dr. Gil Yosipovitch is not the kind of doctor I can recommend and his office seemed overworked and neither the first call when they told me they would call me back, or the one where I left a message with my phone numbers, never followed up. And that is also wrong and unprofessional. I expect better from the University of Miami.

I saw him twice, neither time had he reviewed any records before entering the room. I learned today that the referring doctor, Dr. Berger, recommended biopsies and a stain test but Dr. Yosipovitch never discussed these with me and never did them. At my second appointment he walked in the room and asked, "what is your name?" What kind of bedside manner is that? My chart was right there, he never looked at it before entering or talking to me. Even more troubling is that he put in his notes that I was taking the drugs I had listed as allergens. I had to contact the hospital and fill out paperwork to get this changed in the notes so that no one would give me drugs that I have anaphylactic reactions too. He dose not listen or give any credence to my medical history, I have to explain it to him every time I am there and then he gives me a different cream. If I knew how to file a more formal complaint I would. I think he can be dangerous since he is ignoring the medical history and chart. I will NEVER go back and anyone who sees him should be very wary and read his notes carefully.

Poor bedside manner; DR. Gil kept cutting me off and talking over me it was difficult to explain a symptom or ask a question. He stared at his laptop most the appointment; I did full body check and he didn’t have me take off my shoes or socks just the shirt; he barely looked at my skin….was not a full body check. The appt. was waste of time and money now I need to see another Dermatologist that actually cares.

Visit with Dr. Yosipovitch at the Miami Itch Center was a waste of both time and money.

Dr Gil was my only help after years of suffering. I am thankful to the Lord for him. However he is no longer at Temple and I do not know where he went or who to go to now. This is very disappointing. Praying my course of men's continues to work and that I find him or someone like him.
