Dr. Gilberto Velazco was my mother's discharge doctor at UHealth Miami Hospital who approved and prescribed medication. While we were at the hospital I requested numerous times to review the medication list but the doctor didn't get back to me. I also tried to contact the doctor after we were discharged and left numerous messages with the PH South charge nurse but I received no response. One of the medications that was prescribed in the ICU was FUROSEMIDE which can treat fluid retention. My mother was discharged from ICU and didn't have any issues with fluid retention. It seems the doctor hasn't even reviewed the prescription and blindly re-prescribed it to my mother. As a result, my mom's heart rate was abnormal for several days due to severe dehydration, thankfully we have noticed it timely and stopped using this medication to prevent additional complications.
