Waited over 2 hours to see him. Inconsiderate of others time. Usually takes less than 10 min for a physical.

The Doctor expects the patient to arrive on-time but don't expect the Doctor to do the same. I waited an hour to see the Doctor today but to no avail as I had to leave because this Doctor's office feels more like a busy first aid center than a doctor's office. As a patient you are completely lost in translation here and are given no customer service such as an update with regards to the waiting time if it is over an hour or a mere apology with an update as the doctor is running behind to properly align the patient's expectations and give them a choice to reschedule if they can not afford the luxury of spending half the day waiting unproductively. At the end of the day a Doctor's medical practice is based on the principals of customer service and this entire operation at the University of Miami professional medical care lacks all traces of customer service. I waited almost 1-MONTH to see the doctor and the service was so poor that I left without even seeing the Doctor. If you work full time and have a career I would recommend seeing another medical office or be prepared to wait half a day for service and receive ZERO customer service.

Dr. Coleman is our family doctor and I love him. He takes time to ask questions and understand each patient to tailor the care to the patient. We moved to Miami from Minnesota 6 years ago, and have been through several doctors trying to get the same level of care we had in the land of the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Coleman is it! Dr. Coleman treats each patient with respect and includes you in the decision making for your care, ensuring that you fully understand the pros and cons of each treatment option

I'm gonna balance out Johnny's 3.5 with a 2.5. I wanna start off by saying, this guy is awesome. He's really charming, funny and even though I was visibly pissed when he came in to see me, he was very courteous and attentive. If I could give him a review based on personality alone, it would be a 5. But I can't. Going to the doctor for a routine check-up should not take half a day. I had an appointment that I arrived 30 minutes early to. They checked me in. I waited a bit in the lobby and then the nurse took me inside to take my blood pressure and weight and all that. AN HOUR later Dr. Coleman walks in. He apologized and explained the situation, super courteous and nice, as I said. My visit was pretty standard. He took the time to discuss everything with me. I was kind of annoyed that they couldn't do my labwork there, especially after waiting all that time. I see other doctors in the UM Hospital who have that capability and they're a full blown medical center. It doesn't make sense to me. In addition, I was also going to get a shot that they ran out of so they wanted me to come back in a week or so. As if I want to go through that mission again in a week. I rather die from a tetanus infection, to be honest. Going on 1.5 hours after my 20 minute appointment, I finally left to go find the lab. After going to one that was packed, I had lunch, and tried another. I was relieved to find that this one was totally empty. That is, until I found out that one of my blood tests required me to fast for 8 hours... so I couldn't have my blood work done. You would think the doctor or nurse would have the foresight to mention that before they sent me on my way. I wasted half my day for no reason and I still have to leave the blood work for another day. Totally irresponsible and infuriating. I don't know how much time these people think I have on my hands to dedicate to a simple check-up, but it's not 3 days in the span of a week.

3.5. Dr. Coleman is a very attentive listener who does his level best to make you feel as though you are his only patient. He's a very nice guy. Additionally, he asks questions in an effort to figure out what's going on with your health. Unfortunately, his time management isn't the best. In an effort to spend quality time with each patient, he has a tendency to run behind schedule -- very behind schedule. I have never had an appointment where I waited less than an hour past my arrival time to see him. It's frustrating. I suppose it's a tough balance: you want to give every patient your full attention but you have to keep in mind that you have other patients. It's not fair to expect to see one's doctor at a certain time and not be able to actually see him until much much later. Not only does it disrupt one's day (even if he is able to oblige the time delay), it's not very respectful of the patient's schedule (work, personal or otherwise). Additionally, follow up from appointments is done via letter rather than phone call. All well and good (and, come to think of it, I don't know that I ever want a phone call, if this is the way the system's set up) but rather impersonal and laborious -- but this is, likely, a UM policy and not native to the doctor. What is in the doctor's control, however, is his staff. He gave me a prescription that caused some head scratching at my pharmacy. When they contacted his office to get some clarification, they were stonewalled. I tried calling and received the same outcome. When I finally reached an assistant... let's just say she wasn't Miss Manners' star pupil. This game of telephone lasted for weeks. Weeks. At the end of the day, the script wasn't a big deal and I chose to forgo it but the conscious dismissal was curious, to say the least. Dr. Coleman is a very nice man. I believe him to be sincerely invested in the face-to-face experience with his patients. Unfortunately, everything beyond that sort of falls to pieces.
