Dr. Capo is the greatest. It's been 1 month since our 9 year old son's surgery on both of his eyes. I'm not going to lie. At first, I was skeptical about the surgery, but I'm so glad I went through with it. The 1st 9 hours after surgery, he felt uncomfortable and said everything was blurry and was crying lightly, but the following day, he was back to normal. We made sure we put the eye drops twice a day for 7 days, we also reminded him not to rub his eyes. If you or anyone you know needs strabismus surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Capo, she corrected my son's appearance for now and his future. Thank you Dr. Capo.

This is a 100% honest review. I have had strabismus in both eyes since my childhood. As an adult, I recently started researching the possibility of surgery to correct. I found Dr. Hilda Capo & I am so grateful. I am exactly one day post op from having surgery on both my eyes & it looks great. I am so happy with the results. I have had minimal swelling with eye redness that's already beginning to clear up using the prescribed eye drops that Dr. Capo ordered one day before the surgery so I'd have em already on hand to start right away. Even the alignment check that was done later the same day of surgery was good because I didn't need alignment! Dr. Capo secured my sutures with the assistance of her APRN & it was quick & painless, just a slight uncomfortable tug at the end that she warned me of but it was tolerable. Dr. Capo is a Bascom Palmer Eye Institute physician & please trust me when I say you are in the BEST care for your eyes at Bascom Palmer. One of the BEST eye institutions in the nation, no exaggeration. From the scheduling coordinator, the nursing staff, the anesthesiologist - Dr. Peterson, the transporters, the secretaries, and Dr. Capo's assistant - Dr. Charlot, the professionalism & compassion was TOP TIER! If you do not reside in the Miami, Florida area then please schedule the trip. It is completely worth it for your eyes, especially if you have a child with any disease or disorder of the eyes. Do not think twice about it. Just do it. I'm glad I did.

I don't even know where to begin. I have an extremely complex eye disease behind my right eye. I have seen countless doctors over the years to address different issues this disease has caused. I was referred from USF to Bascom Palmer for a few different issues, but primarily for strabismus. My right eye was extremely misaligned, and it was a source of tremendous insecurity for me for many years. I flew in to meet with Dr. Capo in July. She told me that she wanted to go ahead and try the strabismus surgery, but she wasn't sure it would be successful due to my disease, and everything that is going on behind my eye. She was compassionate, patient, and answered all of my (many) questions. I had a few other eye procedures this year where I met my (extremely high) deductible and out of pocket max. Dr Capo, being the rock star that she is, was very booked. I needed one more procedure (in addition to this one) before the end of the year so my out of pocket wouldn't be astronomical. Both Dr. Capo and her wonderful surgical coordinator, Vivian, worked to get me in on Aug 30th, so that I would have enough time to get my last procedure before the end of the year. How often do surgeons and staff actually care about your personal financial situations, enough to where they really work hard to meet your needs? RARELY. The surgery was a SUCCESS. I cannot believe Dr. Capo was able to work this miracle. I never thought my eye would be straight ever again. I literally cried at my post op visit, because I couldn't believe that my life had just changed. Not only is she an incredible surgeon, but I have had multiple post op questions and she answers me...personally....via my patient portal. Having dealt with a lot of surgeons over the years, this alone blew my mind. I travel 5 hours to be treated at Bascom Palmer, and it is worth every inconvenience. Dr. Capo is top notch, and if you get the chance to be a patient of hers, don't hesitate. I know I was in the best, most caring, compassionate, and skilled hands! I am forever grateful to Dr. Capo and her amazing staff. I felt like family from the moment I walked in the door.

Dr. Capo is a miracle worker. She, her staff and everyone I came in contact with at Bascom Palmer were professional, highly skilled and gave me the care and attention I have never ever received before in my life (I am 72). Dr. Capo and her staff diagnosed and addressed my very difficult situation related to strabismus. I could not be more pleased with the results. Bascom Palmer is "heaven" on earth for those with eye problems.
