List of Jose Alvarez's Reviews
Dr Alvarez is very professional and helpful. He doesn’t have to check who you are in the computer because he knows every patient and treated them with kind. As Dr and as a human being 10/10 100% recommended
Good experience, front desk and Dr. Alvarez was very professional.
This review isn’t about Dr. Alvarez, but his office front desk girl. During our visit, she was very disrespectful and unprofessional. As a healthcare provider, with all due respect, I think you should pay attention to this situation. She should be more compassionate and respectful specially in a mental health care office.
I have been seeing this doctor since December 2021. Since then he has prescribed me various medications. All very outdated rarely used meds. After each medicine I got worse and worse, to the point where I was like a zombie. After multiple calls for help, the doctor finally answered my calls and changed my meds once again. At my next appt i requested a video chat because I couldn’t drive, my nerves were all over the place. The doctor approved but later called and denied my request for a video call, which is completely different than just a phone call. I explained my feeling and he quickly decided on a medicine and hung up the phone. Flat out hung up! This doctor is a psychiatrist, he should be compassionate with me and all his patient who are borderline suicide. This doctor is irresponsible and a bad person. For someone to do that to someone who mentally ill is just a bad person but a psychiatrist! Never seeing him again and I DO NOT recommend him to anyone!
Personal family experience - appt was made Tuesday for Friday (great!) - appt with the NP, but when arrived, the doctor was the one that she apparently was going to be seeing. However, patient was 10 min late and front desk said she could not be seen - yes, I understand she was late, but in my office, a NS practice , we have a 15 min grace period and I always give my patients the benefit of the doubt , unless they are an hour late. I also understand it’s Good Friday and maybe the doctor has somewhere to be early, but the appt was for 2:30, another 4:30 or even 3:30. The patient was also late bc taking care of her 99 yo mother and Couldn’t find parking by time she arrived. Very sad (and disappointing) that a courtesy could not be extended for a patient who is going through an extremely hard time right now - and In need of a Psychiatrist , referred by her therapist. If you are in need of a psychiatrist, this is NOT the one. At least the office staff does not care about patient situation.
I waited FIVE MONTHSf or an appointment. The staff would not describe the problem. It was a simple answer. They wanted to hear from the Back folks that I had had shots. I'm a very old lady and had to hobble around getting answers the staff could have helped me with.
Dr. Alvarez is the best there is in Miami. Dr Alvarez was trained in New York and provides the most wonderful care. I would highly recommend!
he is the best doctor ever. He is kind, and listens to me when he’s not on his iPhone. He cured of my illness that make me attracted to clowns. 10/10 doctor. 10/10 life coach. 10/10 bestie.
Just a horrible doctor. Doesn’t let you talk, told me to get out of his office when I was trying to explain something. Bad attitude and unprofessional
Dr. Alvarez is wonderful. My 90 year old father has been a patient of Dr. Alvarez for almost a year. I am very happy with the level of care and expertise he's provided. He takes the time to listen and answer any questions that my father or I have. Big difference in my father since he started treatment.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
