Dr. Rodriguez-Valdez is amazing. He's very knowledgeable and kind. He makes sure he answers all of your questions before you go. He's been my dermatologist since 2016 and I would never look elsewhere. His staff is just as good as him. They are friendly, patient and kind.

A doctor should be rated taking into consideration many factors and not only his knowledge. Having said that, Dr. Rodriguez seemed to be very knowledgeable and polite. His staff seemed to be polite until an issue came up with my insurance company. The doctor prescribed me a medication that my insurance only covers for patients under 29 years old and I am older than that. Then the doctor prescribed me a second medication and we encountered the same problem with my insurance company. I contacted my insurance company and they called Dr. Rodriguez office and spoke with Grisel because for that medication they needed an additional step besides the regular prescription. They needed the doctor to call the Authorization Department and fill out a pre-authorization for them to cover it. Doctor Rodriguez does not do pre-authorizations because he considers his prescription is enough proof and also pre-authorizations are too much paper work, back and forth and the results might not be successful at the end anyways. I understand it is ridiculous that a doctor has to call for authorization as if his prescription was not enough authorization but as a patient I am very disappointed that Dr. Rodriguez does not do pre-authorization call as a courtesy to his patients. Now I will have to use his third option (an over the counter product) or go see another specialist that is willing to go the extra step of calling my insurance company for an additional authorization. Time and money wasted.
